Las Vegas Raiders vs Buffalo Bills, Regular Season, October 18, 2026 at Allegiant Stadium.

The Buffalo Bills finished their two-game West Coast trip with a 33-30 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6. The matchup was full of highlights and back-and-forth action, with some of the advanced stats helping to paint the picture of an eventful Sunday afternoon.

Here's a glimpse into what got the Bills over the edge:

Josh Allen continues to do Josh Allen things

QB Josh Allen and head coach Joe Brady admitted that the defense they had game-planned to see from the Raiders was different than what they ended up seeing on game day.

After posting the second-highest rushing total of his career the week prior (121 rushing yards), keeping Allen in the pocket was the main priority of Las Vegas. The quarterback was limited to just one rushing yard, but was effective through the air, taking what the defense gave him.

Despite having less rushing yards, he did find some extra yards using his legs to help the passing game. On his five passing attempts in the scramble drill, Allen completed three for 63 yards, his most in a game this season, along with a touchdown.

A big reason for his success on the day came from protecting the ball, Allen had no turnovers on the day and took the plays that were there.

Throwing underneath last Sunday helped Allen keep the ball out of harm's way, taking the smaller chunks of yardage and letting his playmakers go to work. Buffalo tallied 175 yards after catch in the win, the second most in the league.

Out of Allen's 33 passing attempts against the Raiders, 19 of them came against zone coverage. He completed 14 of those passes for 182 yards, including both of his two touchdown passes.

The defensive metrics continue to show flashes

On the defensive side, there were a number of positives from Sunday's victory. Coming into the game, the Bills were focused on limiting Raiders' TE Brock Bowers' production.

CB Christian Benford matched up against Bowers in coverage 19 times in the win. Benford had never followed around a tight end that much in his career, with his previous career high being eight matchups in a game.  Fourteen of the duels on Sunday came in man coverage.

Bowers was targeted five times when Benford was on him, all into tight windows (less than 1 yard of separation), catching just two passes for 23 yards. Entering the matchup, Bowers was off to a hot start, picking up 2.92 yards per route run, the highest rate among tight ends in the NFL, and the eighth-highest number across all receivers.

Benford did well to slow Las Vegas' offensive focal point down in the win, putting together a great day overall in coverage. Against all other receivers in the game, Benford allowed just one reception on three targets, an 11-yard touchdown.

The Raiders struggled to create separation against Benford on the outside, with CB Dee Alford also doing his job forcing tight windows in the slot. Both corners were tied for fifth in the league in average separation in Week 6 (0.9).

Overall, Las Vegas had the third-lowest average target separation in the NFL in Week 6, at just 2.5. ILB Terrel Bernard also was effective defending the pass, allowing just one reception in 27 coverage snaps.

Bernard helped lead a solid run defense unit in the win as well, with the team's splits with him on and off the field speaking for themselves. When Bernard was on the field against the run, Las Vegas averaged just 2.9 yards per carry, compared to 5.0 per carry when he was off the field.

The 27-year-old didn't miss a tackle on Sunday, finishing his day with a team-high nine total tackles, with five defensive stops and one run stuff. Stuffing the run was a common theme for the Bills, stuffing 25% of the Raiders' rushing attempts, good for the sixth-highest rate in Week 6.

Next to Bernard, ILB Dorian Williams flew around the field, making two hustle stops in the win. The metric measures tackles resulting in a successful play for the defense where the player covers 20 or more yards of distance from the snap to the tackle.

Williams has been a model of hustle for Buffalo so far this season, currently sitting in third place across all defenders in the NFL with seven total hustle stops.

James Cook III's metrics continue to impress

The Week 6 victory featured another impressive showing from RB James Cook III on the ground for the Bills. The 27-year-old rushed for 95 yards on 22 carries against Las Vegas, his fifth game in a row rushing for 75 yards or more.

His big day came from a ton of success rushing behind the right side of the offensive line, with 13 carries to his right for 69 yards. Going the other way to the left, Cook had 26 yards on nine attempts.

Cook's right side success also featured 18 rushing yards over expected to that side, finding holes and making defenders miss to pick up extra ground.

Last Sunday was more of the same elusive running for Cook, picking up an average of 0.8 yards over expected per rushing attempt. He has been consistent in the metric so far throughout the season, ranking sixth in both Week 6 and overall on the year (0.9) among qualified rushers.

Cook has been a hard back to get on the ground, currently ranking third in the NFL in yards after contact with 385. He stayed slippery against the Raiders, picking up 62 yards after contact in the win.

Explosive carries have been a common theme for Cook, sitting atop the league in rushes for 10 yards or more on the season with 22. He added three such carries in Week 6.
