The Buffalo Bills announced that popular sports personality John Murphy will return to the local nightly radio airwaves as host of The John Murphy Show. Murphy, the Bills play-by-play announcer since 2004, has accepted a position to work for the team on a full-time basis and will contribute to all of the Bills media properties including buffalobills.com, Bills radio and Bills television programming.

The John Murphy Show will debut live July 26 at Buffalo Bills Training Camp and will broadcast throughout the year from One Bills Drive.  The Show will include nightly guests, player interviews, local call-in segments and unprecedented access to the team.  In addition to Murphy, the team has hired long-time Buffalo morning show producer Russ Burton as the show's producer.

"This is an exciting prospect for both me and my family," said John Murphy. "I have had the opportunity to be part of the Bills Radio Broadcast for 25 years and I am looking forward to expanding my role with the team across all of their media properties.  I would be remiss if I did not thank the great people at WIVB-TV for their support as I begin the next phase of my career."

"John is one of the most accomplished and respected sports personalities in the business," said Marc Honan, Bills Sr. Vice President of Broadcasting and Marketing.  "I know that our fans are really going to enjoy listening, reading and watching all of the great coverage John and our media team plan to produce."

Murphy's career highlights include:

  • Sports Director, WIVB-TV (2008-2012)
  • Sports Director, WKBW-TV (1992-2007)
  • Play-by-Play, Buffalo Bills Radio Network (2004-Present)
  • Color Analyst Buffalo Bills Radio Network (1984-1989, 1994-2003)
  • Sports Director/Host of One-on-One Sports, WBEN Radio (1985-1992)
