What they're saying: Bills 38, Jets 3

**HEAD COACH DOUG MARRONE

**

Opening statement ...

"We're happy, no doubt about it. There are so many people to thank. Afterwards I gave the game ball to obviously the emergency response team in Erie County. I think that's important, pretty much too many people to thank for us being able to get it together. More importantly the players did a heck of a job coming out tonight and really playing well. Defensively and offensively we did a better job in the red zone. We talked about it all week and we were able to run the football down there, which was important. Special teams, I think early on we didn't do a very good job with the field position, a couple penalties early. I thought pretty much our guys were ready to go. Whether we rallied around all the adversity or not I think those are questions for them, obviously we talked about it. We wanted to give the people back in our region a chance to smile a little bit by the way we play. I told you that, that's how I feel, and that it's important for them than it is anything else. I'm just proud of this football team and it's just too many people to thank to stay up here.

On DE Mario Williams playing with emotion ...

"I'll tell you what, I don't disagree with that. He came out and I was like, 'Whoa.' I mean, I really was like, 'Holy cow, there he goes.' Whatever that is it's what we need to keep getting, there's no doubt about it."

On WR Robert Woods' performance ...

"They did a good job. If you look at it they kept rolling everything to Sammy (Watkins) so it was difficult for us to get him the football. Like I said before when they do that you're going to need the other guys to step up because they're going to be in one-on-one coverage. I thought Robert really stepped up and played extremely well and if he doesn't then we're in trouble, that's just the way it is."

On the game day experience at Ford Field ...

"I said it all week long; I don't think we could have been as prepared as a football team if it wasn't for the Detroit Lions helping us out with their facilities and the extra people. I've said it all week, I don't think we would have been as prepared if it wasn't for how they opened their arms up to us and did everything to help us."

On what RB Boobie Dixon added to the offense tonight ...

"He said it during the week that he was going to bull rush that guy, be able to get a block, and Manny (Lawson) was ready for it. He probably has a lot more insight and hopefully I'll ask him about what plays and stuff we should run obviously if he sees himself feeling it. He's worked hard, I know he's standing right here, but I'll say this and I'll say it right in front of him, he can get a lot better. He really can and he knows that. He's a big guy that's athletic and can do a lot of things for us. He played well except for the 4th-and-1. I'm just being honest. He jumped and I told him not to jump anymore. He jumped the one time I told him not jump again and we'll watch the film. He'll tell me the line got pushed back and I'll show him that there was a hole to the right guard, and one of us will be right and one of us will be wrong. We'll never hear the end of it for about three or four days."

**BILLS QB KYLE ORTON

**

On sustaining the momentum throughout the game ...

"Yeah, I thought we played pretty well on offense minus maybe a couple of three-and-outs because of a couple of penalties or lack of execution. But overall I thought we played well, played with a great mentality and that was really Coach (Doug) Marrone's message to the offense, just go out there and take it and trust in each other, trust in the system. I think we probably did a better job at that than any time throughout the year so far."

On if he noticed WR Robert Woods had a favorable matchup going into the game ...

"I mean, we go into every game trying to have answers for a lot of attention to Sammy (Watkins). They started off the game obviously favoring the coverage towards him, so Robert made some great catches, played great and just some unbelievable catches. Obviously, the third-down catch in the red zone to get us started was a big one."

On what this week has been like for the team ...

"It's hard to describe. The good thing about playing football is when you're here, you're preparing for a game and you're with your teammates, there's probably no other place you'd rather be. So for us we probably had the easy part, you know? Everybody back home probably had the tough part, so I'm excited to get here and get a big win for us. Hopefully this will propel us forward."

**DEFENSIVE TACKLE KYLE WILLIAMS

**

On making a statement on defense ...

"I think the only statement we have to hang our hat on is a 38-3 win. We get to go home and we get to play a big game next week."

On what it means to be able to go home ...

"Yeah, it's nice. It'll be interesting. The last time I saw my house it was solid white, so being home will be good for us. But we've got to focus. We've got a big five-week, five-game stretch here. It's as big as I've been a part of here since really my rookie year. We're going to stay at it, we're going to grind, we're going to work and we're going to come out next week ready to go."

**WIDE RECEIVER ROBERT WOODS

**

On QB Kyle Orton's accuracy tonight ...

"Yeah, as long it's in the area we always say, 'If it's in the area we're able to make the play, make the catch.' He just gave us a chance to make plays and be receivers."

On if he felt confident in his matchups ...

"Yeah, we knew that he (Marcus Williams) was new out there, just started playing really. But our whole mindset was whoever was out there, we need to attack them, push them with speed and make them believe that we were going deep every play."

**RUNNING BACK BOOBIE DIXON

**

On his performance tonight ...

"First off, man, a shout out to the Buffalo community. That was definitely for them. It's been a struggle all week. I know they're back home struggling and we're about to go back home and fight with them. That was definitely for them, but we just rallied together. We knew we needed this game. It was a must-win and we got the W."

On what he liked better, his touchdown run or the blocked punt ...

"I don't know, I think it was the touchdown run because I had been itching to score a touchdown. Finally to get that out of the way, it felt great."

On the blocked punt ...

"Actually it was just me trying to make a play. It wasn't a call. I told Danny (Crossman) before I went out there, I said, 'Danny, he's sitting on me. I think I can get back there.' He didn't call the rush so I just said, 'You know what? I'm going to carry my man to the punter. I'm going to block my dude and then I'm going to block the punt.' It just happened. It felt great."

**RUNNING BACK FRED JACKSON

**

On if this is one of the best wins he has been a part of ...

"This was definitely a good win for us. Guys took to heart what we had to do to get it done and we were able to come out here and get a good win. Our coaching staff did a tremendous job getting us prepared. We've got to thank Detroit's organization for hosting us and giving us a place to come in and stay in and giving us a place to practice, things like that to get ready. A lot of things came together and it's good to come out here and get a win."

On if the crowd exceeded his expectations ...

"Oh, the crowd was awesome. They definitely exceeded my expectations. I didn't know what it was going to be like. I was looking forward to seeing what it was like and there were a lot of people in there that supported us. That just goes to show you how well our fans travel and it was great to be a part of. I'm glad we were able to get a win and show them that it means a lot for them to come support us."
