Zay Jones to begin training camp on non-football injury list

Bills head coach Sean McDermott did not provide a guarantee back in the spring when asked if Zay Jones would be ready for training camp following the announcement that the receiver underwent knee surgery in mid-May.

Buffalo placed Jones on the non-football injury list at the outset of camp and he will not be on the field when practice opens Thursday evening.

The non-football injury designation means Jones' hasn't been medically cleared to practice. Once medically cleared by the team, Jones will be able to participate in practice with his Bills teammates.

The Bills offense is depending on Jones to take on a larger role in the team's receiving corps this season after a rookie year that saw him make 27 receptions for 316 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
