Bills HC Sean McDermott gives early injury report ahead of Thursday night matchup vs. Dolphins

coachesweek2

Fresh off a convincing 30-10 road victory over the Jets, the Bills have a short week before facing the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. Buffalo held a walk-thru practice Monday afternoon to begin their preparation.

Head coach Sean McDermott offered updates on a number of players in regards to their injury status.

LB MATT MILANO

Milano didn't participate in Monday's walk-thru due to a pectoral injury suffered during Sunday's win at the Jets and his status for the rest of the week is uncertain.

"Don't know yet. We'll see," McDermott said when asked if it was a longterm injury.

Milano left the Jets game in the second half and wasn't given an official injury designation until today. If Milano isn't available in Week 3, expect third-year linebacker Dorian Williams to fill that spot. Williams has stepped up the past two seasons when Milano has dealt with other injuries and the team has full confidence in his ability with McDermott citing "overall" growth in the Tulane product.

"It's knowledge of the defense, understanding the nuances to playing linebacker in the NFL, I would say those two things for sure," McDermott said of Williams. "Dorian has always been a go-getter, physical, his work ethic is off the charts. And now you're starting to see some of the fruits of his labor."

DT ED OLIVER

The only other Bill that didn't participate in Monday's walk-thru was defensive tackle Ed Oliver due to an ankle injury. Oliver was stepped on during practice last week and missed Week 2's content. McDermott did not have a specific update on Oliver's timetable.

QB JOSH ALLEN

Good news for Buffalo as quarterback Josh Allen isn't listed on the team's injury report to begin the week. Allen had to briefly leave Sunday's game for two plays due to blood gushing from his nose after a hit. The QB was in good spirits following the game and that has seemingly carried over into the beginning of this week.

"I think we're in a good spot," McDermott said.

OTHER INJURY UPDATES

  • CB Taron Johnson (quad) returned to practice in a limited capacity after missing Week 2.
  • DB Jordan Hancock (shoulder) was listed as a full participant
  • LB Shaq Thompson was limited with a hamstring/hand
  • DB Cam Lewis
