Bills quarterback Josh Allen named finalist for AP 2025 NFL MVP

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named a finalist for the AP 2025 NFL MVP award. The winner will be revealed at the 15th annual NFL Honors on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco three days before Super Bowl LX.

Allen was previously named a finalist for his performances in the 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons, marking this his fifth time in his career being recognized for the honor. At NFL Honors in Jan. 2025, he was won the award. Allen finished second in voting in 2020 and third in 2022.

In the 2025 regular season, Allen finished with a 69.3 completion percentage on 319-of-460 attempts and a 102.2 passer rating. He threw for 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns, averaging eight yards per throw. On the ground, Allen had 579 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 112 carries.

Here is what the reigning NFL MVP accomplished in 2025:

  • Led the NFL in most career rushing touchdowns, including the postseason, after Week 9 performance.
  • Surpassed Cam Newton for most rushing touchdowns by an NFL quarterback in Week 13.
  • Became youngest and fastest player to eclipse 300 regular season touchdowns in Week 17.
  • Reached 30,000 regular season passing yards in his career following Week 17.
  • Became first NFL player with 25-plus passing touchdowns and eight or more rushing scores in his playoff career after AFC Wild Card.
  • Surpassed Peyton Manning for most total touchdowns by a player 30 years or younger in Week 11.
  • Became fourth NFL starting quarterback with 95 wins, regular and postseason combined, in his first eight seasons after Week 18.
  • Became fifth starting NFL quarterback with 90 wins, regular season and postseason combined, after Week 11 win over Tampa Bay.
  • Surpassed Cam Newton in NFL history for most games having a rushing and passing touchdown in Week 8.
  • Became first NFL player with multiple games registering three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in Week 11.
  • Registered 10th career game in Week 8 with multiple rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown, leading the NFL.
