Bills release DL Dotson, sign rookie DE

A day before the first training camp practice, the Bills made a roster move affecting their defensive line. Buffalo terminated the contract of DL Lionel Dotson and signed undrafted rookie DE Sean Ferguson.

Ferguson (6'3" 248) made 28 starts in 49 appearances for Mississippi State in his college career with 101 tackles including 17 for loss and three sacks. The defensive end also has a measure of familiarity with the Bills having been one of the club's tryout players during the Bills rookie minicamp this past May.

Dotson, who spent most of last season on Buffalo's practice squad, did appear in five games for the Bills last season posting a pair of tackles.

This past spring however, Dotson did not participate in almost all of the OTA and minicamp practices due to a non-football related injury.

With the roster move the player total still remains at the maximum offseason limit of 90 players.
