Buffalo's front office made a couple of roster moves on Tuesday. One to their active roster and the other to their practice squad. The Bills signed veteran free agent LB Jelani Jenkins.
Jenkins, 25, signed with the Oakland Raiders in free agency last spring. The fifth-year veteran was competing to become the starting weak side linebacker for the Raiders before he was placed on injured reserve by the club on Sept. 2nd. Two days later he reached an injury settlement and became a free agent.
A former fourth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins, Jenkins was a full-time starter for the Dolphins in 2014 and 2015 and still made seven starts for Miami last season.
Jenkins brings some experienced depth to Buffalo's linebacking corps. To make room for him on the roster the Bills released CB Greg Mabin.
WR Dupre added to practice squadBuffalo also made a change to their practice squad, signing WR Malachi Dupre. Dupre was seventh-round pick out of LSU by the Green Bay Packers this past April, but did not make the Packers 53-man roster.
Dupre (6-3, 195) appeared in 36 games in his college career and finished at LSU with 98 receptions for 1,609 yards and 11 touchdowns. He earned second team All-SEC honors as a junior in 2016.
To create a spot on the practice squad for Dupre, the Bills released WR Daikiel Shorts.
