Bills sign seven to practice squad

A day after putting the 53-man roster together, the Bills got to work on assembling their 10-player practice squad. Buffalo signed seven players to the unit Sunday.

All seven players came from Buffalo's previous training camp roster. Wide receivers Brandon Reilly and Daikiel Shorts headlined the list on the offensive side of the ball. Many thought Reilly had a shot at making the 53-man roster, but he and Shorts, who both had pretty consistent preseasons, will develop on the practice squad.

Despite carrying nine defensive linemen on their active roster, Buffalo signed two defensive linemen to their practice squad. Marquavius Lewis and Ian Seau were added to the practice squad.

Seau probably did the most to warrant consideration after his two-sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery performance in the team's last preseason game against Detroit.

With just five cornerbacks on the roster, Buffalo signed undrafted rookie Marcus Sayles, who had been on the team's roster all offseason. Sayles played a good deal in the slot and would likely be in line for a promotion to the active roster should Leonard Johnson suffer an injury and be out of the lineup for any length of time.

Here's the practice squad roster so far.

Offense
WR Daikiel Shorts
WR Brandon Reilly
OL Jordan Mudge

Defense
DE Ian Seau
DL Marquavius Lewis
CB Marcus Sayles
S BT Sanders
