In honor of National CPR and AED Awareness Week, which runs from June 1 to June 7, the Buffalo Bills are proud to announce that they have been recognized by Erie County as a HEARTSafe Workplace.

The Bills also encourage anyone interested in learning Hands-Only CPR to attend the Buffalo Public School Summit on June 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at All High Stadium at Bennett High School. The Bills and AMR will partner to bring activities, games, CPR training, and more to members of our community.

With the HEARTSafe designation, the Bills meet Erie County's CPR training and certification requirement, have multiple AEDs on-site in a publicly accessible area and maintain a written Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP).

Additionally, the Bills established a Cardiac Emergency Response Team (CERT)- a group of staff members who are CPR and AED certified and designated to respond during a cardiac emergency. The team meets annually to plan, implement, and evaluate the Cardiac Emergency Response Plan. Each AED throughout the building has been identified and mapped within the CERP itself.

"The HEARTSafe Workplace designation recognizes the Buffalo Bills commitment to advancing CPR education and AED access within our organization, as we continue these efforts across Western New York. By ensuring our staff are prepared to respond in the event of a cardiac emergency we are building a stronger, more resilient community," said Michelle Roberts, VP of Community Impact.

"In partnership with organizations like the Buffalo Bills, we are expanding access to AEDs and increasing the number of people who are trained, willing and able to use AEDs and CPR to save lives," said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. "When a sudden cardiac arrest occurs in a workplace, in a store, or, as we all witnessed in 2023 with Damar Hamlin, at a sporting event, there are precious few seconds to act and bring a person back to life. We appreciate the Buffalo Bills joining the HEARTSafe Workplace program and celebrate its commitment to community health and preparedness."

Businesses that are interested in earning their HEARTSafe Workplace Designation can apply online.
