January 27
Bills agree to terms with Joe Brady to become head coach of the Buffalo Bills
Joe Brady has been the Bills offensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025. In his first full season overseeing the Buffalo offense in 2024, led the Bills to becoming the first team in NFL history to score 30+ rushing and 30+ receiving touchdowns. The Bills averaged an AFC-best 30.9 points per game and only allowed an NFL-best 14 sacks. Including playoffs, the Bills also led the NFL with 612 points scored.
In 2025, led a Bills offense that ranked fourth in the NFL in points per game (28.3) and led the NFL in rushing yards/game (159.6) and rushing TDs (30).
Brady has been with the Bills organization since 2022, rising from quarterbacks coach to now head coach.
January 26
Bills complete interview with Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase
Buffalo interviewed L.A. Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase Monday night, bringing their total to nine candidates for their head coach search.
Scheelhaase, 35, has been on the Rams coaching staff since 2024. Since then, the Rams rank 3rd in pass yards per game, 5th in points per game, 6th in EPA per pass play and 3rd in passing success rate.
Prior to joining the Rams staff, Scheelhaase coached at Iowa State (2018-2023), working his way up from running backs coach his first season to offensive coordinator in '23.
Scheelhaase was born in Davenport, Iowa, attended Rockhurst High School in Kansas City and eventually played quarterback at Illinois (2009-2013).
Bills complete interview with Denver offensive pass game coordinator and QB coach Davis Webb
Broncos offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb completed his head coaching interview with Buffalo on Monday.
Webb has been a part of the Broncos staff since 2023. He started as the QB coach and added pass game coordinator to his title this season. The Broncos finished with the 10th best offense in 2025 averaging 342.6 total yards per game. While the former quarterback is newer to coaching, he has garnered a ton of respect across the league in just a few seasons.
Webb was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and finished his playing career with the same team in 2022. The former QB is familiar with the Bills because he played for Buffalo from 2019-21 where he was in the same position room as Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Webb also played for the Jets in 2018.
Webb, 31, played collegiately for Texas Tech and California.

January 25
Bills complete interview with Jags OC Grant Udinski
Buffalo interviewed Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski on Sunday.
2025 marked Udinski's first season as the Jaguars OC; prior to that he spent three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings as an offensive assistant. Udinski began his NFL coaching career with the Carolina Panthers (2020-21) as an assistant, briefly overlapping with Joe Brady.
With the Jags, Udinski helped coach an offense that tied for sixth in points per game (27.7) and 11th in yards per game (338.6). Jacksonville's offense was among the best in the league during the second half of the season, averaging 32.8 points from Week 9-18 (second most in NFL).
Udinski, 30, is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania and played collegiately for the Davidson Wildcats and Towson Tigers.

January 24
Bills complete interview with Commanders run game coordinator and running backs coach Anthony Lynn
Buffalo interviewed Washington Commanders run game coordinator and running backs coach Anthony Lynn on Saturday. Lynn finished his second season with Washington in those roles in 2025.
From 2022-23, he was the assistant head coach and running backs coach of the San Francisco 49ers after serving as the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator in 2021. Lynn also has head coaching experience from his time with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017-20.
This would be Lynn's second stint with the Bills. He was previously the assistant head coach and running backs coach for Buffalo from 2015-16. He served as the team's interim head coach and offensive coordinator in 2016 as well. Both seasons, the Bills led the league in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and yards per carry.

Bills complete interview with Miami defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver
Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver completed his head coaching interview with the Bills on Saturday.
Weaver started as Miami's DC in 2024. Prior to that, he was on Baltimore's staff from 2021-23 and served in various roles (assistant head coach, defensive line coach, run game coordinator). During that time, Baltimore ranked top 10 in several defensive categories – points per game allowed (19.4 – 3rd), total yards per game (329.7 – 10th), sacks (142 – 3rd), red zone (47.1% - 1st).
Weaver has some familiarity with Buffalo as he was the Bills' defensive line coach in 2013 under former head coach Doug Marrone. He also coached for the Texans (2016-2020), Browns (2014-15) and Jets (2012) in different roles. Weaver played in the NFL from 2002-08 as a defensive end.

January 23
Bills interview Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers
On Friday, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers interviewed with the Bills. He rejoined the NFL midseason to take over as the Colts' starting quarterback, but previously coached at St. Michael Catholic High School after retiring from playing after the 2020 season.
At the high school level, Rivers achieved a 43-15 record from 2021-25 and led his team to two consecutive 4A state semifinal appearances. In 2025, he came out of retirement and played for Indianapolis. He played in three contests for the Colts, registering a 63 completion percentage on 59-of-92 pass attempts for 544 yards and four touchdowns. This marked Rivers' 18th season as a player in the NFL.
Rivers is 8th all-time in NFL passing yards (63,984) and 6th in touchdowns (425).

January 22
Bills complete interview with Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo
On Thursday, Buffalo interviewed Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Anarumo has 36 years of coaching experience, 13 of which are in the NFL.
He completed his first season as the Colts' defensive coordinator in 2025 following his six-season stint in that position for the Cincinnati Bengals. In his final season with the Bengals, his defense ranked top 10 in the NFL in interceptions, interceptions returned for a touchdown and passes defensed.
Indianapolis finished top 10 among defenses across the league in rush yards allowed per game (seventh with 1,732), yards allowed per carry (tied second with 3.9) and pass yards allowed per game (second with 4,462).

Bills complete interview with former Giants head coach Brian Daboll
Former Giants head coach and Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll interviewed for Buffalo's head coaching vacancy on Thursday.
Daboll most recently served as the Giants head coach from 2022-25. Prior to that, Daboll was Buffalo's offensive coordinator from 2018-21. During his time with the Bills, they went 40-25 and averaged 24.1 points per game and 352.3 total yards per game.
Daboll also served in different positions for Kansas City (offensive coordinator), Cleveland (offensive coordinator), New York Jets (quarterbacks coach) and New England (wide receivers coach). He won five Super Bowls with the Patriots. The former Giants head coach was raised in Western New York in West Seneca.

January 21
Bills complete interview with OC Joe Brady
Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady was first up in the candidate cycle, interviewing on Wednesday.
Brady has been the team's full-time OC since Jan. 28, 2024, and served as the interim OC beginning in November 2023. During the two full seasons Brady called the offensive plays, Buffalo averaged 30.6 points per game in 2024 (second most in NFL) and 28.3 points in 2025 (t-third most).
The Bills also ranked 10th in yards per game in 2024 (361.2) and third in 2025 (378.2).
Brady has been with the Bills organization since 2022, developing a strong relationship with QB Josh Allen who won the 2024 NFL MVP.
