Joe Brady has agreed to terms to become Buffalo's next head coach. Brady agreed to terms on a five-year deal and will be Buffalo's 21st head coach.

Brady was promoted to the head coaching job from within. The new HC served as Buffalo's offensive coordinator from 2024-25, as well as interim offensive coordinator for the final nine games of the 2023 season (including playoffs).

Brady was originally hired by the Bills ahead of the 2022 season and was their quarterbacks coach from 2022-23.

Since being Buffalo's offensive coordinator, Brady consistently put together offenses that are tough to stop. It's a balanced attack that can change dependent on the defense it's facing.

He oversaw a Bills offense that ranked top five in several statistical categories in 2025 – rushing yards per game (159.6 – 1st), time of possession (33:08 – 1st), red zone efficiency (66.2% - 3rd), points per game (28.3 – 4th), total yards per game (376.3 – 4th) and third down conversion rate (44.8% - 4th).

In 2024, Brady's offense broke records. They became the first team in NFL history to score at least 30 rushing and 30 receiving touchdowns in a single season. The Bills averaged 30.9 points per game (best in AFC) and allowed a league-best 14 sacks that season.

Since becoming Buffalo's offensive coordinator, the Bills averaged 29.6 points per game (2nd), 367.7 total yards per game (3rd), 145.4 rushing yards per game (3rd) and 222.3 passing yards per game (10th).

Since 2024, Bills quarterback Josh Allen posted impressive numbers under Brady's guise. Allen leads the NFL with 79 offensive touchdowns and ranks top 10 in wins (25 – 2nd), passing touchdowns (53 – 8th), passing yards (7,399 – 9th), passing yards per attempt (7.8 – 6th) and passer rating (101.8 – 6th) during that span.

Before coming to Buffalo, Brady coached with the Carolina Panthers as their offensive coordinator from 2020-21. His first job in the NFL was with the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant from 2017-18.

Buffalo's new HC also coached at the college ranks – LSU in 2019 (passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach), Penn State from 2015-16 (graduate assistant) and started his coaching career at William & Mary from 2013-14 (linebackers coach).

At LSU, Brady had his hand in a lot of success. His quarterback, Joe Burrow, won the Heisman Trophy and the Tigers had an undefeated season as they won the College Football Playoff national championship game. Brady won the Broyles Award that year as college football's top assistant coach.

Brady, 36, is from Pembroke Pines, Fla. He played wide receiver at William & Mary (2009-12).
