FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMonday, December 3, 2007 BUFFALO BILLS TO HOST FITNESS PARTY TO CELEBRATE WHAT MOVES U FITNESS PROGRAM-IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD OF WESTERN NEW YORK AND THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION- WHEN: Tuesday, December 4, 2007 11:00 AM – 12:00 PMWHAT: The Buffalo Bills are proud to team up with BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and the American Heart Association to celebrate the conclusion of the What Moves U fitness program in-school contest that was implemented in select Buffalo Schools. Two-hundred and fifty 3rd – 5th grade students have been invited to come to a private fitness party in the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse to celebrate the healthy fitness and diet choices they made over a four-week period. After a healthy lunch, Action for Healthy Kids will lead students through Mini-ReCharge!, a circuit of fitness activities designed to get kids on their feet, energized and moving. A partner in the NFL's Play 60 campaign, Action for Healthy Kids is a national nonprofit organization that addresses the epidemic of overweight, undernourished and sedentary youth by focusing on changes within schools.The What Moves U fitness program has aimed to encourage physical activity among youngsters in Western New York. The program has been the result of a collaborative partnership between the NFL and the American Heart Association on the national level and has been designed to promote physical fitness and healthy living to an increasingly inactive generation of children. This initiative incorporates several key elements such as an in-school activity kit created for teachers, by teachers, which includes curriculum-based activity sheets, program - specific learning materials and school promotional materials; and an interactive fitness-focused website for children. Locally this program has been rolled out in a number of Buffalo Public Schools in grades 3rd – 6th.
