Bills safety and special teams contributor Jon Corto, who missed the entire 2011 season with a shoulder injury, saw his time with the club he rooted for as a kid come to an end Thursday as he was released by the team.
Corto, an Orchard Park native, grew up around the corner from Ralph Wilson Stadium. When he made the team's practice squad as an undrafted rookie in 2007, and then the active roster in 2008 it was an easy story for Bills fans to get behind.
The Sacred Heart product appeared in 43 games for the Bills in his three seasons on the active roster (2008-2010), serving mainly on special teams. Corto was on injured reserve for the 2011 season. He had one year remaining on a two-year contract he signed last offseason. Â
