Matthew Smiley is in his 7th season in Buffalo and his second as the team's special teams coordinator. He spent his first five years in Buffalo as the team's assistant special teams coach. In the 2022 season, the Bills ranked first in the NFL in special teams DVOA. Prior to his coaching career, Smiley served in the United States Air Force as a maintenance officer in Grand Forks, ND.
