Bills-Vikings injury report

LeSean McCoy practiced on a limited basis Wednesday with his teammates as he tries to return in time to play Sunday in Minnesota, a week after suffering cracked rib cartilage.

"I feel good. (Wednesday) was the first day really running," said McCoy. "I've got the red jersey on so I haven't really been touched. Just taking each day at a time and trying to get back to full health and full strength to help my team on Sunday."

McCoy wore a red non-contact jersey at practice. The Bills feature back has a respectable tolerance for pain, but would prefer to deal with the pain only when he's getting hit, not when he's bobbing and weaving away from defenders.

"I'm just worried about running full speed without too much pain," he said. "I can kind of deal with getting hit and that type of pain. That'll only happen about 18 to 20 times, but just running, stopping, cutting without pain. But I'm going to fight hard, get treatment, practice hard."

McCoy took a helmet shot to his rib cage in last Sunday's game, but he said it was what happened after that tackle that led to the injury. Bills center Ryan Groy was pushed backwards by a Chargers player at the tail end of the play and tripped backwards falling right on McCoy's rib cage.

"It was more Groy than Perryman's helmet," he said. "He hit me and I was getting up and then Groy did his thing and I heard a crack."

McCoy intends to make a decision on his playing status come week's end.

"It's only Wednesday. I'll probably make that decision on Friday or Saturday to see if I can go out and run full speed with no pain," he said. "There might be some pain and I'll have to deal with it. It is what it is."
