Angelo Sciandra named Bills high school coach of the week

Angelo Sciandra of Cardinal O'Hara has been named the Buffalo Bills High School Football Coach of the Week after the eleventh weekend of the 2007 football season (November 9-10).

In a dominant performance Saturday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Cardinal O'Hara High School shutout St. Mary's High School 35-0 to claim its third consecutive Monsignor Martin Association League A championship. Senior RB Reggie Garner led the way for the offense rushing for 187 yards and three touchdowns, including runs of 67 and 72 yards. Junior QB Angelo Sciandra IV was perfect in the passing game connecting on all five of his attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown to sophomore D.J. Nettles. The story of the game however, was the Cardinal O'Hara defense. Dominating every time they stepped on the field, the Hawks defense registered nine sacks in posting their seventh shutout of the season. James Ewing played brilliantly for the Hawk defense as he registered 10 tackles and 3 sacks. Cardinal O'Hara (10-1) has won 27 of its last 28 games and an amazing 25 in a row against Western New York opponents. Coach Angelo Sciandra was the Buffalo Bills co-coach of the year in 2006.

This is the eleventh consecutive year of the Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week program. Each week during the 11-week high school football season, a committee appointed by the Buffalo Bills selects a head football coach as Coach of the Week. The honorees will receive a certificate signed by the Buffalo Bills Head Coach Dick Jauron, Buffalo Bills General Manager Marv Levy and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, plus a Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week cap and $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Buffalo Bills Youth Foundation. Recognition of the winning coach will be shown on the Buffalo Bills official website (www.buffalobills.com).

At the end of the season, one of the weekly award winners will be named Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $1,000 donation to the school's football program. All of the 2007 "Coach of the Week" winners will be honored during halftime of the Buffalo Bills / Miami Dolphins game on December 9th as part of the Bills Salute to High School Football Ceremony.
