Billieve program to kickoff at Niagara Falls


The Buffalo Bills are making this year's Billieve breast cancer awareness program their "pinkest" ever. The Bills, the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Delaware North Companies, Dessert deli and Zeta Tau Alpha will gather at Niagara Falls, Ontario to "light the Falls pink" as part of the Billieve breast cancer awareness program. 

In addition to all of the game related Billieve activities scheduled for the highly anticipated Bills game vs. the Eagles on Sunday, Niagara Falls will go "pink" for the second year in a row, the Peace Bridge will go "pink" and the M&T Bank Building in Buffalo will go "pink" on Friday, October 7, 2011 to commemorate and help kickoff the Bills Billieve breast cancer awareness program.

Special guests at the Falls lighting will include Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, running back Fred Jackson, defensive tackle Kyle Williams, defensive end Dwan Edwards, long snapper Garrison Sanborn, safety Bryan Scott, safety Jairus Byrd, wide receiver David Nelson, defensive end Alex Carrington and offensive lineman Eric Wood.

The Bills players will be on-hand to greet fans and sign autographs at Edgewater's Tap and Grill in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. to help support the important community event.The event is open to the public.

The Illumination Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. with members of the Bills Women's Association, Buffalo Jills Cheerleaders, Team Mascot Billy Buffalo, members of The Niagara Falls Illumination Board and breast cancer survivors and supporters all in attendance to participate in the event.

A short ceremony will be held on the stage at the Illuminations Tower Stage in Queen Victoria Park next to Edgewater's at 6:30 p.m., and from approximately 6:45 – 8:00 p.m. the Falls will be pink in recognition of October being breast cancer awareness month.

There also will be fireworks at 9:00 p.m. that will feature a pink theme as well.

One out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The "Billieve" campaign was designed as an awareness program to support the Komen for the Cure's mission to save lives through early detection and to ultimately end breast cancer forever.
