The Buffalo Bills players and Jills cheerleaders joined thousands of amazing Western New York volunteers by donating their time, signing autographs, and providing some relief for workers at the Extreme Makeover Home Edition construction site in Buffalo.
On November 13th, the Bills players and Jills cheerleaders joined forces with volunteers for the exciting finish of the home and the show's "furniture move-in" day.
Players and coaches participating in the move-in day included punter Brian Moorman, wide receiver James Hardy, long snapper Geoff Hangartner, tight end Jonathan Stupar, offensive lineman Seth McKinney, defensive tackle Corey Mace, tight end Derek Schouman, offensive lineman Kirk Chambers, linebacker Chris Draft, tight end Derek Fine, defensive tackle Spencer Johnson, quarterback Gibran Hamdan and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
The Bills and Jills helped the Extreme Makeover home designers Paige, Eduardo and Michael with the furniture move-in and provided additional spirit and teamwork for all the volunteers and neighbors on hand.
In addition, Bills safety George Wilson, wide receiver James Hardy and linebacker Nic Harris visited the home site on November 11th and signed construction helmets, Extreme Makeover t-shirts, shook hands and took pictures with workers to show their support of the massive Buffalo volunteer project to build the Powell family a new home and help revitalize a neighborhood.
The Buffalo Jills cheerleaders also spent time throughout the entire week helping with different home projects to get the Powell home built and ready for the family arrival in just seven days.
The Bills also donated Bills caps, hard hats, sweatshirts and hammers for the workers, and many football-themed items for the recreation room in the new Powell family home. Because the Powell's oldest son, Joel, is a high school football player and a huge Bills fan, the Buffalo Bills provided a variety of team merchandise and other surprises for him and his family.
In addition, the Bills also donated some artificial turf that was used for part of the design of the recreation room.
The Buffalo Bills are proud to be a small part of the enormous effort and neighborly acts that took place this week. The "City of Good Neighbors" more than lived up to its name when the Extreme Makeover team came to Buffalo.
