Bills PPK crowns eight

The 2008 NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) Team Championship competition was held before the Bills vs. Jets game on Sunday, November 2, 2008.  A field of nearly 40 sectional winning contestants took the Ralph Wilson Stadium (RWS) field and punted, passed and kicked until eight team champions were crowned.

The 8/9 year old winners were Laura Skrzypczyk from West Seneca and Lucas Voss from Fredonia.  The 10/11 age group winners were Delaney Lucey from Fairport and Mike Wagner from Victor.  The 12/13 year old winners were Jenna Tomizzi from Buffalo and Matthew Barlow from Oneida, and the 14/15 year age group winners were Christin Dunkling from Athens, PA and Clayton Wilson from Rushville.

All sectional winning contestants put on an exhibition of their skills at halftime of the Bills and Jets game.  At the end of the third quarter, the eight champions were recognized in front of the RWS crowd and had their photos taken on the field.

Team champions will have their scores tabulated and compared to other team champions from across the league.  The participants with scores in the top four nationally in their respective age groups qualify to compete against each other in the 2008-2009 NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick National Finals held in January 2009 at an NFL Divisional Playoff game (TBD).

The National Football League, the YMCA and the Buffalo Bills congratulate all of the contestants and volunteers that made the 2008 Pepsi PPK program a success.

The NFL Pepsi PUNT, PASS & KICK program is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 -15 to compete separately against their peers.

Established in 1961, the PP&K program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.  Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum.  The PP&K program is free – both to organizers who host a local competition and to every youngster who wants to participate!  With more than four million boys and girls from around the country taking part in the NFL Pepsi PUNT, PASS & KICK competition every year from July through January, it is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs.
