The Bills made a series of roster moves ahead of Thursday's practice:
Active roster moves: DB Sam Franklin Jr. and DT DeWayne Carter
Buffalo announced that it has signed defensive back and special teams contributor Sam Franklin Jr. to the active 53-man roster. The Bills originally signed Franklin Jr. to the practice squad on Aug. 27 after he spent the offseason and training camp with the Broncos.
"He's a safety by position, but he's made his name on special teams in this league," Beane shared after Franklin Jr. initially joined the team. "A standout gunner, kick cover player."
Franklin Jr. began his NFL career in 2020 as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers and spent the last five seasons with the team.
The Bills also placed defensive tackle DeWayne Carter on injured reserve due to an Achilles injury. Carter suffered the injury during practice.

Practice squad moves: K Matt Prater, WR Gabe Davis
The Bills are also adding kicker Matt Prater to the practice squad; he has nearly 20 years of NFL experience.
His last stop was with the Cardinals where he played for four seasons (2021-24). Prater made 86 of his 101 field goal attempts during his time with Arizona.
Prater has also played for Atlanta, Denver and Detroit over his 18-year career. He's made a whopping 407 career field goals in a slew of different environments. He holds the record for most field goal makes from at least 50 yards with 81. His longest makes are from 62 and 64 yards out.
Last but not least, the Bills are adding a familiar face to their practice squad. Buffalo signed wide receiver Gabe Davis to the practice squad.
Davis' most recent stop was with the Jaguars in 2024. He played in 10 games and scored two touchdowns before suffering a season ending injury in November. The WR spent his first four seasons with Buffalo. He appeared in 64 games and totaled 163 catches, 2,730 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns.
Davis suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2024 with the Jags. He will be designated as practice squad/injured.
