1 – NFL Network analyst shares thoughts on Allen

Ian Rapoport is known around NFL circles as one of the most reliable and consistent reporters in the league, and he recently spoke about the quarterback situation in Buffalo, and much more. Rapoport noted that he loves coming to Buffalo to cover the Bills.

"It is a place that I love to come out to," he said.

Although Rapoport enjoys coming to Buffalo just to visit the city, he was in town to cover the intriguing quarterback competition with the Bills, and to offer his insight on the situation.

"I remember when scouts were talking two years ago about this quarterback up north that we had to see," said Rapoport of Josh Allen. "I knew he had a good arm, but he really slings it. I have seen some really good arms up close and in person, but it just comes out of his hand so easy."

Rapoport is not the only person to visit Buffalo and notice Allen's physical abilities, as Buffalo fans have seen it first-hand since Allen arrived.

Now that Allen has been named the starter for Week 3 of the preseason, even more eyes will be on him. Rapoport acknowledged that it would be a bit of a risk to start the rookie quarterback in the first regular season contest, but he feels that Allen possesses some traits that would allow for him to overcome any adversity that he experiences.

"He seems like he is pretty balanced emotionally and mentally," said Rapoport. "I think Sean McDermott and the coaching staff will have a good idea after this week how he [Allen] can handle being in the spotlight."

2 – Teller absorbing all he can from coaches, teammates

As a fifth-round pick, Bills rookie offensive guard Wyatt Teller entered 2018 in Buffalo with tempered expectations. Teller put together a solid performance at the scouting combine and at the Senior Bowl, but some questions arose surrounding alleged off the field issues. However, since arriving in Buffalo, Teller has done nothing but impress his teammates, his coaches, and the fans.

"I have been blessed with good guys in front of me," said Teller. "Coach Castillo coaches it a certain way, taking everything step by step, methodically working through things to make them feel natural."

According to Pro Football Focus, Teller has participated in 54 snaps which have required him to block on a passing play. Of those 54 snaps, he allowed just one quarterback pressure. Teller has seen most of his time to this point with the second and third team offenses, but his progress is certainly encouraging. That progress, he says, can be attributed to veteran guys in the offensive line room like Vladimir Ducasse and John Miller.

"He [Ducasse] is a hell of a player and he is a great guy to learn from. It can't be a fluke to stay in the league as long as he has," said Teller. "Same goes for John Miller he is a monster. He is a great guy to talk to and him and I have the same sort of mentality. It is cool to have both a seasoned veteran, and an up and coming stud to learn from.

3 – This DT has stepped up in Kyle Williams' absence

Since being drafted by the Bills old regime in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Adolphus Washington has experienced the highs and the lows of the NFL game. Originally expected to step in and contribute immediately, Washington took a bit of a longer approach. However, now that Kyle Williams status is up in the air due to an injury, Washington is climbing up the Bills defensive depth chart, and he figures to contribute in 2018.

"Everybody has to give a little bit more without Kyle [Williams] here," said Washington. "Harrison Phillips and I play that backup role, but we have to give even more because Kyle is the vocal leader, the leader on the field, and in every other aspect."

Washington is one of the last remaining players on the Bills roster that was around before the switch to the new regime with Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane, and he has been able to establish himself as a reliable option. Washington talked about what has allowed him to stick around even after a switch with the coaching staff and the front office.

"I have had talks with Brandon Beane and coach McDermott, and they said they like the way that I keep improving," he said. "This year, I came back with a whole different attitude and in better shape, and the staff noticed it."
