Brian Moorman Blog - Jul 27

Bills Pro Bowl punter Brian Moorman will be providing his thoughts and experiences during his tenth NFL training camp. Here is his first entry.

Well, camp is in full swing. I finally have the dorm room all set up to get me through the next 4 weeks. As the years go by you figure out what you need and don't need, and I've got it down pretty good by now. After this camp, I will have officially spent one year of my life in professional football training camps. Two in Seattle, Two for NFL Europe, and 8 with the Bills. That's CRAZY. I remember at my first camp in Seattle I was talking with Jeff Feagles and told me that year, 1999, was his 12th camp. I never thought I would be to that point. A little different route than him, as he made it right out of college, but still 12 camps. I would not want it any other way.

So I've got the essentials… in my world anyway. TV, play station, computer, printer, books, magazines, and my newest camp toy…An Apple TV. This thing is awesome. I really don't watch much TV, but it's good for background noise. But camp is a time when I like to catch up on a few movies I haven't seen that I want to. No more Blockbuster trips for me though. I figure the fact that I can never get the movies back on time and end up owning them, this newest gadget will pay for itself. All I have to do is hook it up to the internet, choose a movie or TV show from I tunes, and I can watch it almost immediately.

It took an entire half a day, for one of my teammates to give me a hard time about what we as specialists do. Following the first practice, I get the comment of "How was your 15 minutes of work?" Ahhh, that never gets old. I try and tell them that we are either doing drills, lifting, running….but they just keep walking. No respect I tell you.

The wing is a little sore today I will admit. For those of you wondering why. Take a look at what Chris Brown had to say at the end of the Bills Roundup of day one here http://www.buffalobills.com/multimedia/index.html. Helping out by throwing to the DB's was fun though. Although I probably looked more like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite than Trent Edwards or J.P. Losman. I do have a new respect for the QBs throwing the 15 yard. out. Man that is a long way, and I didn't have shoulder pads or Chris Kelsay in my face. So if you see someone out on the field at night with a tripod and video camera filming drop backs and passes that may be me. If I just had a time machine to get back to high school, I know I could win that state title.

Catch up with you soon.
