Chan Gailey: "We gave up too much too early"

Bills Head Coach Chan Gailey

Opening remarks
"We just gave up too much too early. We didn't execute well early in the game. We gave up too much and had too much to overcome."

On whether the offensive play in the first half was the worst of the season
"I don't think I'd go that far. We dropped some passes that hurt. We couldn't get any momentum going. We got a couple of penalties (that) hurt us. If we would have just executed the way I think we're capable of executing … okay, we should have had points. A couple of times we should have had points."

On if he should have challenged the dropped pass call in the end zone on WR Stevie Johnson
"Yeah, we talked about it on the sideline. But, if the ball rolls out it's the (Detroit Lions WR) Calvin Johnson rule -- If the ball rolls out without (the receiver) coming up with it and giving it to the official, they're not going to ever give it to you. So you're wasting a challenge there."

On, after suffering a 10-loss season for now all three of years as Bills head coach, if he's concerned about his job security
"No. I worry about getting better … playing to our abilities, which we haven't done. And that's my responsibility to get that done. We're not there. I think we have a chance, but we're not there yet."

On after another ugly loss if he's surprised the team isn't more competitive
"No. If we score (at the end of game) and get the on-side kick, it's a competitive game. The guys didn't quit fighting. Like I said, we gave up too much too early. I don't think we weren't competitive. I think we competed."

On the defense not being able to stop the Dolphins when they needed to
"Some big plays. We gave up a quarterback run. We gave up a big seam pass. The touchdown to (Reggie) Bush. That was the three big plays. They made them and we didn't. And those were all critical plays on those drives."

On if it was frustrating to see the read option work against them
"Yeah. I think we missed a tackle on that, to be honest with you. I think we had somebody there. So yeah, it's frustrating. But I don't think it's a situation that we don't know what's going on. I think we just got to make a play."

On the injury status of TE Scott Chandler and FB Dorin Dickerson
"Scott doesn't look good at all. It's a knee. And (on Dickerson) I don't know. I didn't get a report on Dorin. I saw Scott on crutches."

On the injury status of SS Da'Norris Searcy
"I don't know. They said he was out but I just saw him in street clothes at the end of the game, so I don't know. I got to go get a report."

On how big a factor Dolphins RB Reggie Bush was in the game
"He's always a factor in the game. He made some plays in the passing game. Running the football … he's always a factor in the game. He's around the ball enough. He makes things happen."
