Fifth annual touchdown turkeys at Tops

Turkeys, hams, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy and diapers!

All these and more were the items of choice for the Buffalo Bills Women's Association (BWA), as they shopped for all the makings for Thanksgiving dinners at the Tops in Orchard Park on Wednesday, November 5.  The BWA includes coaches, players and staff wives, fiances, girlfriends and sisters.

All of the food and items the ladies bought was delivered courtesy of First Student Charter Bus Rental to the Food Bank of WNY.

Laura Denney, Bills Women's Association chairperson and wife of Bills defensive end Ryan Denney noted that before the women shopped for all the Thanksgiving fixings, they checked with the Food Bank of WNY to see what items they needed.  The ladies were informed that baby items such as diapers and baby wipes were as important as anything else for people in need during Thanksgiving.

"I think, especially with everything going on, we need to help fill their shelves at the Food Bank," stated Denney.

Emma Dockery, wife of Bills offensive lineman Derrick Dockery, said, "It's such a wonderful time to come out and service the community we are a part of.  This gives us the opportunity to do some good for the lives of other people."

The Buffalo Bills Women's Association has been meeting annually before the Thanksgiving holiday to help feed the hungry in our community since 2004.  Supporting the Food Bank of Western New York, who does so much for the community and is so busy during this time of year, has been a primary goal for the ladies of the BWA.
