GAME RECAP: Bills QB AJ McCarron leads gritty comeback in preseason finale

How it went down:

-Cody Parkey converted a 47-yard field goal with 5:51 left in the first quarter to put the Bears up 3-0.

-Doran Grant intercepted an A.J. McCarron pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown with 5:00 remaining in the opening quarter. Grant's interception and touchdown made the score 10-0 in favor of Chicago.

-Cody Parkey put through his second field goal of the game with 7:46 remaining in the second quarter. His 23-yard field goal put the Bears up 13-0.

-Bears running back Ryan Nall ran for a 32-yard touchdown with 1:52 left in the first half. The extra point put the Bears up 20-0.

-In the dying seconds of the first half, Bears kicker Cody Parkey missed a 39-yard field goal that would have put Chicago up by 23.

-A 44-yard rush by Travaris Cadet set up a 42-yard field goal for Stephen Hauschka. Hauschka's kick cut the Bears lead to 17.

-Knile Davis ran in a touchdown from one yard out halfway through the third quarter to put the Bears up 27-3.

-A.J. McCarron escaped the grasp of the Bears defense and scrambled into the endzone from five yards out. After a failed two-point conversion, the Bills trailed the Bears by a score of 27-9.

-Robert Foster hauled in a 24-yard pass from A.J. McCarron with 10:02 left in the fourth quarter, making the score 27-16 with the Bears ahead.

-A.J. McCarron fired a 6-yard laser to Malachi Dupre for a touchdown with 3:34 left in the game. The Bills again failed to convert the two-point conversion, making the score 27-22.

-A.J. McCarron led the Bills on a 12-play, 84-yard drive capped off by a seven-yard touchdown pass to Keith Towbridge. A failed two-point conversion put the Bills up 28-27.

Subplots:

-A.J. McCarron threw for 156 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the game; adding a rushing touchdown as well.

-Tanner Vallejo impressed in an attempt to win the backup middle linebacker job, compiling four total tackles and a pass breakup.

-Fifth-round pick Siran Neal tallied 10 total tackles in an impressive defensive showing.

-OT Conor McDermott left the game with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury.

-DT Terrence Fede also left the game with an undisclosed injury, this one with 4:22 left in the third quarter.

-Ray-Ray McCloud left the game late in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and did not return to the game.
