GM Marv Levy - July 31

GM Marv Levy

PM Practice- 7/31/07

On his thoughts going into the weekend (for Thurman Thomas' induction to the Hall of Fame)…

First of all, I'm excited, believe it or not. Every time I've gone back to the Hall of Fame, I even see some of the guys that were put in 40 years ago, and they still have that glow about them. I know how excited Thurman is. I've talked to him four or five times recently. I'm very honored that he's ask me to be his presenter, and about 30 to 45 of his former teammates are going to be there. So I'm looking forward to celebrating with all of them.

On Marv Levy's former players- Thurman will not be the last one inducted…

It's very gratifying. I believe he's the third counting Jim Kelly and James Lofton. There will be more. I certainly hope so and believe so.

On Thurman as a person…

Well I'm going to say some of that in my presentation remarks, so I don't want to give a preview too early. But even though, he might have given a different impression sometime, he was a team player, more than most people realize.

On what it means to him being asked to present for both Thurman Thomas and Jim Kelly…

It made my eyes blink because I realize there are so many that have had an impact on their life. And, as I said earlier, I'm thrilled. I really am. I certainly don't take it as, "Oh well, I have to travel." No way, I'm looking forward to it.

On his presentation…

The overriding theme is going to be what he really did mean to our team. There may be a spot of humor. At least I'll laugh. I don't know if anyone else will.

On Thurman's versatility…

He was so capable in so many areas. He can run from scrimmage. He can do a lot of things.
