The Buffalo Bills practiced on Thursday for the first time since suffering their first loss of the season. Looking forward to the chance to bounce back in a Monday Night Football clash with the Los Angeles Rams, the team's weekly grind is fully underway.
Here's what the team had to say about the upcoming primetime battle.
Scouting the Rams' star-studded offense
Through the first four weeks of the season, Los Angeles has proved to be a tough offense to keep in check. The team is currently putting up the second-most yards per game in the NFL (417).
A big reason for the offensive success for the Rams has been their stars consistently showing up. 2025 MVP Matthew Stafford has dealt with some turnovers to start the year, but has maintained a great connection with WRs Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
"They're a dynamic offense," Bills head coach Joe Brady said. "They're also dynamic in the run game as well. And so, it's a challenge anytime you go against that outfit… You have two All-Pros on the outside and an MVP playing the quarterback position."
Los Angeles has leaned on the passing game to start the year, throwing the ball on 62% of plays and putting up 290.3 yards per game through the air. Nacua, who has returned from an injury, and Adams are seventh (99.5) and eighth (97.5) in the league in receiving yards per game, respectively.
The Rams' run game has been one of the NFL's best as well, led by RB's Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Both rushers sit within the top 10 in yards per carry this year. Williams holds the fifth-best mark at 5.4, while Corum sits in 10th at 4.9.
"All over the field from their backs to their receivers, they've got a solid front offensive line-wise," Buffalo OLB Bradley Chubb said. "It's a great team, man. And it's a team that's been good for a long time. They kind of found their formula to have success deep in the playoffs."
Los Angeles's evolving defense brings a tough matchup
The Rams defense has been just as impressive to begin the year. Heading into Week 5, the group has allowed the second-fewest yards per game in the league at 247.5.
Defending against the pass has been the unit's strong suit to begin the year. Los Angeles is one of only seven teams allowing under 200 yards through the air per game, way down at just 145.5.
"They've put a lot of resources into their defense and who they've brought in, obviously in the secondary, making trades," Bills QB Josh Allen said. "[CB Trent McDuffie's] a heck of a player. [DL] Aaron Donald is Aaron Donald. He's back.
"They present a lot of different challenges, a lot of different looks, pressure from kind of all over. It's a tough defense to get a tail on. So yeah, we're going to have our hands full."
Outside of McDuffie and Donald, the Rams have been led by a hot start for OLB Byron Young. The 28-year-old is tied for sixth in the NFL with 3.5 sacks, along with 22 pressures, good for fifth-best in the league.
Weeks 1 and 2 featured different defensive looks for Los Angeles compared to its two most recent games. Buffalo noticed how the unit has evolved, ready for the chance to take on the new-look group.
"That's kind of a story for the majority of the teams in the NFL," Bills T Spencer Brown said. "They come in all through training camp, they have a plan, they sample it for the first couple of weeks, and once it isn't working or isn't doing as well as they want it to, they have to find answers. And it seems like they have. They played well the last couple of weeks here, and I look forward to going against it."
Despite their 2-2 record, the Rams have the veteran pieces capable of winning any game, any week. Most people's preseason Super Bowl favorites will be sure to show up under the lights on primetime, with Buffalo ready for the challenge.
Thursday Injury Report
After leaving Sunday's Week 4 contest with a shoulder injury, WR DJ Moore was not on the field during the media portion of Thursday's practice. He was officially listed as a non-participant.
Moore's status for Monday night is uncertain at this point, but Brady is confident his wideout will do his best to be active if possible.
"DJ is a competitor, and you see the difference in us with DJ out on the football field, and I think that's natural and that's real," Brady said. "He is always going to do literally everything he can to be out there, not just for himself but for his teammates.
"I think we owe it to him if he feels like, 'Hey, I can go out there, and I can play at the level I can, and I can be there for my teammates,' we're gonna roll with that with him because he does make us better out there."
DL Ed Oliver (knee) and CB Dee Alford (ankle) also did not practice Thursday. Brady was asked about both Alford and Oliver's injuries, explaining that he doesn't believe they will be long-term issues.
