Inside the Bills - Aug 24

Well played game
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 10:42 PM ET

WELL PLAYED GAME: The starting offense was productive again, the defense was effective in the first half and got five takeaways. Special teams just gave up the one long return, and Walker was injured, but a solid performance otherwise. Just got to hope the Walker injury isn't one of the long term variety.

Fewell has to be happy with the takeaways

FEWELL HAS TO BE HAPPY WITH TAKEAWAYS: With four takeaways tonight including two interceptions defending their red zone, defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has to be pleased knowing how much he harps on forcing turnovers.

Ellison's probably had the highest degree of difficulty.

A good showing on the back end.

X-RAYS ON WALKER NEGATIVE: The x-rays taken on Langston Walker's left forearm were negative. We'll have an update after the game.

Walker injury "not good"
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 9:41 PM ET

WALKER INJURY "NOT GOOD": For those that didn't see it Adam Schefter reported prior to the start of the second half that he spoke with Dick Jauron about Langston Walker's left forearm injury. He said Jauron confirmed x-rays were taken and when asked what the results were Jauron told him, "Not good."

We'll have more updates if they become available.

Wendling on end of coverage plays
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 9:24 PM ET

WENDLING ON END OF COVERAGE PLAYS: John Wendling has been active on coverage plays on special teams. He was in on the last two special teams tackles with assists from Steve Johnson and George Wilson. He just seems to take good angles to the ball.

Losman faring well
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 9:18 PM ET

LOSMAN FARING WELL: J.P. Losman is 13-19 (68%) passing for 108 yards prior to the current drive. But more important is his decision making has been very consistent. A solid performance thus far.

I really think Edwards' thigh injury was a wake up call for him as to how quickly he can find himself thrust into the lineup, and he's responded.

Fantastic drive!
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 9:00 PM ET

FANTASTIC DRIVE: For a drive that began deep in their own territory it was well called by Turk Schonert and well executed by J.P. Losman. Xavier Omon did a nice job coming in midway through the drive and has a natural nose for the end zone with almost 100 touchdowns in his college career (98).

When's the last time you saw an 18-play drive by Buffalo that covered 10 minutes!

Walker heads to locker room
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:56 PM ET

WALKER HEADS TO LOCKER ROOM: Langston Walker just went to the locker room with an apparent left arm injury. He was making sure to keep the lower half of his left arm still as he walked into the tunnel.

Walker injured
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:53 PM ET

WALKER INJURED: Langston Walker just walked off the field after suffering what appeared to be a left arm injury. We'll have an update if one becomes available.

Demetrius Bell is in at left tackle in his place.

Preston in at center
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:43 PM ET

PRESTON IN AT CENTER: Duke Preston is in at center on the team's third possession for Melvin Fowler. Also looks like Josh Reed and Marshawn Lynch's nights are over.

Reed off to solid start
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:25 PM ET

REED OFF TO SOLID START: That's the way a veteran knows where the first down marker is. Nice job on the third down conversion. That holding call on him was very suspect. J.P. is looking for him early.

Jim Sorgi not playing
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:15 PM ET

LORENZEN STARTING AT QB FOR COLTS: Jared Lorenzen is starting for the Colts. Apparently Sorgi got dinged in the last preseason game.

Good protection on 3rd down
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:12 PM ET

GOOD PROTECTION ON THIRD DOWN: Offensive line did a nice job on that 3rd-and-2 conversion. Langston Walker is off to a good start at LT against Dwight Freeney.

Nice block by Wright on kickoff
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 8:10 PM ET

NICE BLOCK BY WRIGHT ON KICKOFF: Wright who plays fullback on the kick return unit had a solid block on the McGee return to start the game.

Bills win toss

BILLS WIN COIN TOSS: They've elected to receive.

Roof and glass doors at end openPosted By: Chris Brown | Time: 7:51 PM ET

ROOF AND GLASS DOORS AT END OPEN: With this being the debut of Lucas Oil Stadium there's a lot of pomp and circumstance here tonight. They just flipped the switch to open the roof and slide open the 90 foot glass doors at the one end of the facility allowing for a view of downtown Indy. This place dwarfs the RCA Dome. Hard to believe.

Inactives for the Bills vs. Colts
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 7:43 PM ET

INACTIVES FOR BILLS-COLTS: Buffalo's inactive players for tonight are Trent Edwards, Roscoe Parrish, Matt Murphy, Derek Schouman and James Hardy.
