The Buffalo Bills have a new addition to their wide receiver room — and it's a big one.
DJ Moore, the former Chicago Bear, joins Buffalo as he enters his ninth NFL season. He recorded four seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards in his first eight seasons.
The Bills acquired Moore via a trade and also received a 2026 fifth round draft pick from Chicago. The Bears received a 2026 second round draft pick.
Moore understood the business side of things entering the offseason and especially so when he knew he was traded. Nonetheless, he was excited knowing that his new home was in Western New York with a team that's made seven consecutive postseason appearances.
"It's hard to win in this league. You should appreciate it, celebrate it," Moore said. "But the losses turn into lessons. You learn from your losses, get better as a player and you just go from there each and every time."
Since his rookie season in 2018, Moore experienced just one winning season. In 2025, Chicago reigned supreme in the NFC North with an 11-6 record. Its season ultimately ended with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, 20-17.
"Last year was my first winning season, so I got a taste of what everybody has been getting a taste of here in Buffalo," Moore said. "It was good. It was fun. The atmosphere was amazing … I look forward to getting back there with the Bills and going further."
It's not just a winning season the Bills seek. They want to get over the playoff hump, make it back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994 and come out as champions.
Moore agreed that it's all about the next step for Buffalo: "for me, for the organization, for everything, for everybody."
The Bills might be a new team for the wide receiver, but he's not new to head coach Joe Brady.
Brady and Moore overlapped in Carolina for two seasons (2020-21). Moore eclipsed 1,100 receiving yards in both seasons and had four touchdowns each year as well when Brady was his offensive coordinator. He also had a career-high 18.1 yards per catch in 2020.
From his experience working with Brady, Moore said that the entire offensive unit, not only the wide receiver room, was held to a high standard.
"[Go] out there every day and just getting better [by] one percent," Moore said. "The little things or the most needed things that we needed to focus on, he always harped on them; and he never took his foot off the gas."
One consistent element of Brady's offense that Moore recognized is everyone on the field helping each other, whether that means he's the quarterback's target or throwing up blocks to open routes for others.
"Yes, that was something that was established there," Moore said of his time under Brady in Carolina. "It was pretty cool to see how that worked out, and I see it still going on today."
As for his specific role with the Bills, Moore said he's versatile and can fit into different concepts. His play style preference is whatever it takes to win, a motto the Brady and the team embody.
Coming in as a veteran receiver, Moore knows his way around the field at all levels and knows what it takes to win in the pass game. He said he's excited to hit the ground running with quarterback Josh Allen — a guy who plays at a high level every time he's on the field.
"He's a field general," Moore described Allen. "You see him out there trying to conduct things and the way he does it, is successful, and I just want to be a part of that."
Moore shared that Allen and other Bills players have reached out to him since the trade to express their excitement about his addition.
"It's a warm welcome, I'm just glad to be here," Moore said. "[Allen] is ready for me to get there and get going."
The overarching goal in Western New York is winning the Super Bowl. Though Moore has that same aspiration, he doesn't want to cloud his mind with setting and focusing on personal goals. That mindset is something Moore had in 2025 in Chicago; and in return, he played free and helped put together a winning season.
"I never look at any season as they're going to be the same. I just go into it with a free mind, no goals for the past. Like this past year I didn't have no goals. So, I think this year I'm going to the same with it because it turned out to be a winning season," Moore said. "It just clears your mind of you not thinking about 'Oh am I getting catches, am I getting targets, what?' It's just letting you just play free."
With all the excitement buzzing around playing for Brady again, with Allen and for the Bills overall, Moore didn't forget about how he looks forward to playing in front of and for Bills Mafia.
"I'm excited. I'm excited for the new challenge and a new journey. I think my time in Chicago, it ran its course and it ended on a great note with it being a great season in how it ended," Moore said. "Now it's time to do that here."
