Quick Hits: No decision yet at QB for Sunday for Bills

We don't yet know who the starting quarterback will be for the Bills when they face the Jets at MetLife Stadium Sunday, but we do know one person it won't be. Derek Anderson was ruled out for Sunday's game by head coach Sean McDermott on Friday morning, but there hasn't been a final decision on a starter this week.

"We'll still working through that one day at a time," said McDermott. "Josh is progressing well. Obviously, it's his first week back at practice. My main priority was and remains his health as we move forward here."

Josh Allen is working his way back from a throwing elbow injury that has kept him out of the last three games. He will be limited again in practice Friday.

Anderson is still in the concussion protocol after taking a hit from New England's Kyle Van Noy late in the Monday night game against the Patriots.

He was seen doing conditioning work on the sidelines with the strength and conditioning staff at practice Thursday, but has not participated in practice.

That leaves Buffalo with Nathan Peterman and Matt Barkley as the only fully healthy quarterbacks on their roster.

Edmunds still in concussion protocol

Buffalo's middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who missed last week's game against Chicago, remains in the concussion protocol.

Edmunds did practice for the first time Thursday on a limited basis, but coach McDermott confirmed that the rookie is still in the protocol as of Friday morning.

Edmunds will be limited in practice Friday.

A possible move at tight end?

Another player who has already been ruled out of Sunday's game is Charles Clay, who suffered a hamstring injury early in the game last week against Chicago.

He has not practiced all week. With Clay out of the lineup it leaves the Bills with just two tight ends in Jason Croom and Logan Thomas.

Head coach Sean McDermott admitted that a roster move may need to be made to address the shortage at the position.

"Those are things Brandon (Beane) and I are looking at," said McDermott. "We've talked all through the week and will continue to talk about as we move forward here."
