Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after his productive night against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

On 1st and goal in the third quarter, Rousseau tipped and intercepted Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' pass intended for Mecole Hardman. Rousseau also registered 1.0 sack and five total tackles.

The rookie leads the Bills with 3.0 sacks in five games. Rousseau is also the third Bills player to win player of the week honors in 2021 joining Tremaine Edmunds (defense - Week 4) and Josh Allen (offense - Week 3).

The defensive end joins former Bills linebacker Cornelius Bennett (Week 16, 1987) as the only Bills rookies to win the Defensive Player of the Week award. Rousseau, the No. 30 draft pick from the University of Miami, is the fifth Bills rookie to earn Player of the Week honors. Other Bills rookies to win this award are QB Josh Allen (Week 17 – 2018), RB CJ Spiller (Special teams: Week 3 – 2010), LB Cornelius Bennett (Week 16 – 1987) and RB Greg Bell (Week 12 – 1984).

This is the first time Buffalo has won Defensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks since 2016 - LB Zach Brown in Week 4 and Nickell Robey-Coleman in Week 5.
