'We know the type of talent they have' | The Bills look ahead to their matchup against the Ravens

Buffalo Bills Week 8 Practice, October 29, 2026 at the Kaleida Health Performance Center.

Buffalo has won its first game after the bye week in 11 consecutive seasons and will look to extend that streak Sunday against Baltimore

Head coach Joe Brady was focused on keeping it similar to what bye weeks in previous years have looked like for the Bills in his first year at the helm. His coaching staff took time to self-scout and reassess what needs to be worked on moving forward, now implementing the changes throughout the week leading up to game day.

"We've got a nice week of practice to try to clean up some things, and I look forward to seeing how we execute on Sunday," Brady said. "There are obviously a lot of ways for us to get better, but I don't want that to lose sight of all the good that we've done. And I don't want us to lose the things that obviously separate us.

Keeping the positives while correcting the negatives is the balancing act Brady and his staff are trying to strike, one the Bills have navigated successfully in past seasons.

"I try not to compare to the past, but I think the way that you'll handle the bye week is making sure that you don't get too crazy in terms of feeling like you have to change everything," Brady added. "… How we can continue to look at things open-minded, but not feel like everything's broken."

For the players, the bye is an opportunity to rest and relax, both mentally and physically. But now that it's over, the team is ready to get back to work.

"You get away a little bit, and you get that itch and start missing it, and you're like, 'All right, I've had enough fun, if you will; let's get back in the building and focus on what we've got to do,'" QB Josh Allen said. "But just having the mindset of turning the page of, like, 'All right, we're playing ball from here until hopefully the middle of February,' and that's got to be the mindset that we have."

The new task at hand is preparing for the Ravens, a team that has presented several tough matchups in recent memory. The last two duels between the teams have been decided by a total of three points, with Buffalo scraping out wins in both.

Baltimore has been without former MVP QB Lamar Jackson for the last three weeks, going 1-2 over that span. The 29-year-old was a full participant through the Ravens' first two days of practice, giving him a good chance to return this Sunday.

If Jackson does suit up, the Bills are aware of the challenges he brings to the table.

"I've been facing Lamar since college, man, and it's been the same story. He can beat you with his arm; he can beat you with his feet. He extends plays and finds those bombs downfield. He's got the read option game, which he's amazing at," OLB Bradley Chubb said. "… It's hard to find flaws in his game."

The passing game under Jackson runs through WR Zay Flowers, one of the NFL's most productive pass catchers through the first seven weeks. Flowers is currently second in the league in receiving yards per game with 101.3, accounting for more receptions & receiving yards than all other Baltimore wide receivers combined.

On the ground, Jackson is always a threat with his legs, already holding the NFL's record for career rushing yards by a quarterback (6,666). He is complemented by RB Derrick Henry, who has also put together a long career of rushing success.

Henry (ninth all time with 13,597 career rushing yards) needs just 66 yards to pass Jerome Bettis for eighth place, and 88 yards to pass LaDainian Tomlinson for seventh most in NFL history. The 32-year-old is still a workhorse back, currently leading the league in rushing attempts with 147. He remains one of the league's most explosive runners, leading all running backs in average miles per hour at the line of scrimmage (10.53)

"You can't really compare his play style to anybody else," S Damar Hamlin said of Henry. "He's his own problem, and it's just something I always look forward to… So to be able to have an opportunity to go out there and compete is all I look forward to."

On the defensive side, the Ravens have a plethora of star talent. They have five different players who have earned first-team All-Pro honors at least once in their careers: ILB Roquan Smith (three times), S Kyle Hamilton (twice), CB Marlon Humphrey (twice), OLB Trey Hendrickson (once) and DL Calais Campbell (once).

"Obviously, we know the type of talent that they have on that side," Allen said. "You have to be aware of a lot of guys: Hendrickson, getting after the quarterback, [Hamilton's] all over the field, [Humphrey], same thing. Just the energy that they play with. They work extremely well together. [Smith's] one of the best linebackers in the game, so we know what type of talent they have.

"We have to be on top of our game, have a good week of practice, get in the film room, try to break down whatever we can, have a good week and then go perform on Sunday."

Hendrickson has stood out among the bunch to begin the 2026 campaign, again proving to be one of the league's premier pass rushers. The 31-year-old is currently 11th in pressures despite playing just five games with 29. He also has the third-best pressure rate in 2026 among defenders with at least 100 rushes at 22.3%.

"He plays the game physical, and he's consistent, so he brings it every single rep, one after another, after another, after another," T Dion Dawkins said. "And like I always say, he plays with no gloves on. For a player to play with no gloves on, he's kind of tweaked differently. So I clap my hands to him, but overall he's a good player."
