The Buffalo Bills are partnering with BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, the American Heart Association and the Buffalo Public Schools to celebrate their fourth annual 'What Moves U' health and fitness end of program party for youth on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Bills Field House. The 'What Moves U' Field House Party includes an interactive fitness event and will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon in front of approximately 250 students from various Buffalo Public Schools.
The event will include appearances by Bills players, fitness stations, a healthy lunch, and gift bags.
Earlier in the season, nearly 1,700 students participated in the 'What Moves U' assembly and their schools competed in a 'What Moves U' fitness challenge over a four-week period. Randomly selected students and classrooms that completed the challenge will get to participate in the fitness celebration at the Field House on Tuesday. In addition, these students will have a chance to receive tickets for the Bills vs. New England home game on December 28th and be on the field for pre-game ceremonies.
The program is being offered to all Buffalo Public Schools (grades 3-6). The schools that attended the assembly were sent the 'What Moves U' activation kit (Challenge Guide, Student Game Planners and Trading Cards). The remaining public schools will be sent the activation kit by the start of the new year. The Bills also partnered with the local American Heart Association to distribute program materials to schools in the surrounding community.
The 'What Moves U' campaign was created in response to the national decline of physical education programs and lack of physical activity for today's youth. This national youth movement and awareness campaign is designed to promote physical fitness and healthy living to an increasingly inactive generation of children. For more information, visit www.WhatMovesU.com.
The National Football League and the American Heart Association have teamed to create the What Moves U Challenge – a program that challenges you to get active and play for at least 60 minutes every day.
