"What Moves U" kicks off Tuesday

Orchard Park, NY – The Buffalo Bills are partnering with BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, the American Heart Association and the Buffalo Public Schools to kickoff their fourth annual 'What Moves U' health and fitness program for youth on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. The 'What Moves U' kickoff event will take place at Kleinhans Music Hall at 10:30 a.m. in front of approximately 1,500 students from nine Buffalo Public Schools.

Buffalo Bills players scheduled to show their support at the kickoff event are quarterback Trent Edwards, safety George Wilson, linebacker John DiGiorgio, linebacker Keith Ellison and other Bills players.

At the 'What Moves U' kickoff event, Dennis George will be performing a quiz show for the students and the South Park High School band will be playing throughout the event. Bills players will speak to the students in a pep rally style of event to get the kids excited about physical fitness and healthy living.

The 'What Moves U' campaign was created in response to the national decline of physical education programs and lack of physical activity for today's youth. This national youth movement and awareness campaign is designed to promote physical fitness and healthy living to an increasingly inactive generation of children. The nine schools participating in the 2008 What Moves U assembly include: Grover Prep (School 198), Olmstead (School 64), Discovery (School 67), Southside (School 93), Hillery Park (School 27), Waterfront (School 95), Dr. Lydia T. Wright (School 89), Performing Arts (School 192) and Bennett Park (School 32). These schools will compete in a What Moves U healthy fitness challenge over a four-week period. Students and classrooms that complete the challenge will have a chance to participate in a fitness celebration at the Buffalo Bills Field House. They will also have a chance to receive tickets for the Bills vs. New England home game on December 28th and be on the field for pre-game ceremonies.

The program will also be offered to all Buffalo Public Schools (grades 3-6). These schools will be sent the What Moves U activation kit (Challenge Guide, Student Game Planners and Trading Cards). The Bills will also partner with the local American Heart Association to distribute program materials to schools in the surrounding community.
