Who are the Bills 2025 Training Camp Sleepers?

CampSleepers2025

No one debates that the Bills' 2025 53-man roster is going to be a tough squad to crack, especially for some of the newcomers and younger players on the training camp roster. But knowing how much head coach Sean McDermott and his staff provide equal opportunity and consideration, there are usually a few players who rise up and win a job when most were not expecting it.

Here's a look at a handful of possible sleepers in this year's Bills Camp.

OT Travis Clayton

On a roster with an embarrassment of riches at the offensive tackle position, Clayton is finally back in the fold after his rookie season went up in smoke due to injury. The UK product has tantalizing physical traits, and is being capably developed by offensive line coach, Aaron Kromer, and assistant Austin Gund. But can he make enough strides in his game to challenge for a roster spot with four more experienced tackles ahead of him on the depth chart?

CB Brandon Codrington

It might seem strange that a player whom the Bills traded for last season and manned the primary returner role would be characterized as a sleeper. But with a veteran returner signed as a free agent in Laviska Shenault, Codrington must demonstrate he can do more than just return kicks and punts. A short and compact corner, Codrington has seen more time inside at slot corner where he'll be battling with veteran Cam Lewis to serve as Taron Johnson's understudy. He'll need to show progress there to help cement a roster spot.

TE Zach Davidson

A camp sleeper last year, Davidson despite being behind three entrenched tight ends in Dawson Knox, Dalton Kincaid, and Quintin Morris, showed enough to make the practice squad, and was called up midseason and made his first career NFL reception. The deck is still stacked against him with fifth-round pick, Jackson Hawes, added to the mix to do a lot of the dirty work at the position. Davidson has to continue to diversify his game, so the rest of his skill set meets his high-end pass catching ability. That will give him his best chance to crack the 53-man roster out of camp.

LB Keonta Jenkins

The undrafted rookie is a quintessential hybrid type player at the second level. He has just enough size to be a linebacker but also possesses the agility and speed to be an effective subpackage player in coverage. With defenses across the league seeking more multi-positional role players, Jenkins looks to be Buffalo's developmental project in this vein. If he proves to be a quick study, there could be a role for him on the 53-man roster.

CB Dorian Strong

Strong is in a similar boat to that of Codrington. The sixth-round pick is at a position suddenly flush with veteran depth that knows the system with Dane Jackson and Tre'Davious White back on the roster. Ja'Marcus Ingram and 2024 seventh-round pick Daequan Hardy, who made the practice squad last season are also hanging around. Working in Strong's favor is the ideal length to his frame that Buffalo's defensive staff covets on the outside. If he can build on the work he put in during the spring and increase his level of consistency, there could be a back of the roster spot for him.

WR Jalen Virgil

He came up just short of making the 53-man roster last year coming out of camp but did wind up dressing for seven games last season. Virgil has added lean muscle mass through his upper body to hold up better physically and made his fair share of plays in the spring. He's in a very crowded position group that upgraded with some free agent signings, but he's put himself in the best possible position to challenge for a spot in camp.

QB Mike White

Some might forget that White was signed to Buffalo's practice squad late last season and then signed to an extension in January. Mitchell Trubisky has been a solid backup to Josh Allen, running scout team very well week in and week out to prepare the Bills defense, while also helping Allen prep for opponents. But White's skill set, and NFL experience will merit serious consideration for the backup job, on a roster that currently has four quarterbacks, but has traditionally only kept two on the active roster.
