Bills hire Matt Edwards as assistant defensive line coach

Buffalo is making another addition to their defensive staff. The Bills have hired Matt Edwards as their assistant defensive line coach.

Edwards spent the last two seasons with the Raiders as a defensive assistant and pass rush specialist coach. He helped coach defensive end Maxx Crosby to back-to-back double digit sack seasons, including a career-high 14.5 in 2023.

Before coaching in Vegas, Edwards was a part of the Titans staff and served in multiple roles. He started out as an assistant special teams coach in 2018, transitioned to defensive assistant in 2020 and spent his last season with Tennessee as their assistant special teams coach.

Before his time in the NFL, Edwards spent 15 seasons coaching at the college level. He was the defensive coordinator for Tiffin University from 2014-2017, the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator for Florida Atlantic University in 2013, spent 2011-2012 at Miami of Ohio as the defensive ends coach, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator and was the defensive line coach for Kent State from 2006-2010. Edwards began his coaching career in 2003 at the College of Wooster as their linebackers coach.
