The Buffalo Bills are adding another tight end to the roster, signing former Lions TE Shane Zylstra to a one-year contract.

At 6-foot-4, 244 pounds, Zylstra spent the last five seasons with Detroit (2021-25), recording 18 catches for 136 yards and four touchdowns in 35 games played.

Zylstra is from Spicer, Minn., and played five collegiate seasons at Division II school Minnesota State. He was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and First-team All-American in 2019.

Zylstra was an undrafted free agent in 2021 and signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was waived before the start of the season. He signed with the Lions prior to Week 1 of 2021. Zylstra will now continue his NFL career in Buffalo, he will wear No. 48.

In a corresponding move, the Bills released kicker Maddux Trujillo.
