Playoff Clinching Scenarios

How the Bills can clinch the AFC No. 1 seed in Week 17

1seedclinching

The final two weeks of the regular season are upon us and there's still plenty at stake in the AFC Playoff race.

After clinching a playoff berth in Week 15 and the AFC East in Week 16, the Bills are now in position to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs in Week 17. Here's how it could happen.

Buffalo clinches homefield advantage and AFC's lone first-round bye with:

  1. BUF win + KC loss

This means the Bills must beat the Bengals on Monday Night Football AND have the Chiefs lose at home to the Denver Broncos. The Bills are also the ONLY team in the AFC that is able to clinch the 1-seed in Week 17.

Kansas City would need to win its final two games and the Bills to lose one of their final two games in order to leapfrog Buffalo in the AFC standings. The Bengals are also in play for the 1-seed but would need to a win over Buffalo + a Chiefs loss to Denver.

IF both the Bills and Chiefs win in Week 17, then the Bills would have to wait until Week 18 to clinch homefield advantage.
