Jills highlight health and exercise

The Buffalo Bills cheerleaders, the Jills, performed and taught their signature dance moves at the National Day of Dance, sponsored by Kaleida Health, on Saturday, February 27. Held at the Eastern Hills Mall in Amherst, NY, the local event included dance demonstrations by a dozen different groups from all over Western New York.

Aimed to improve awareness for physical activity and cardiovascular health, the National Day of Dance is a community-based event held in over 60 cities throughout the United States. In addition to the dance performances, the Day of Dance also featured health screenings and information from experts from the Kaleida Health system.

"It was exciting to be part of such a wonderful event highlighting health and exercise, something in which the Jills are always conscious of," said Omarlla, who has stayed fit and active through dance as a Buffalo Jills cheerleader for ten seasons.

The Jills pulled guests from the audience and members of the Junior Jills dance troupe on stage to join the fun and demonstrate a few dance moves. The Jills also took time to pose for photos, sign autographs, and distribute information about upcoming auditions and the Junior Jills program.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to help promote physical activity and general health awareness to the public," said Buffalo Jill, Ayeshia. "Health education is not only a preventive measure, but also encourages us to become more involved and proactive in our own well being."
