On Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Bills Training Camp, presented by Connors and Ferris, fans will have the opportunity to make a difference in the local community by donating to the Pirate Toy Fund. The organization, which supplies toys year-round to over 70 agencies that provide aid and comfort to thousands of children in the Greater Rochester area, will be collecting new, unwrapped toys, and monetary donations at St. John Fisher College next to the Democrat & Chronicle booth.
Located inside the welcome tent on campus, the Pirate Toy Fund will be available, for fans who wish to participate, when gates open at 7:45 a.m. and will remain open until the end of practice. Founded by children's entertainer Gary the Happy Pirate in 1995, the Pirate Toy Fund is a one-of-a-kind non-profit organization that has distributed nearly 250,000 toys to date.
Additionally, on Tuesday, fans will enjoy getting into the spirit with Pirate Day. The last of six theme days held at training camp this year, Pirate Day will offer fans a chance to take part in activities found in the Bills Experience area, presented by Independent Health, such as an inflatable pirate ship slide, live performances by The Happy Pirates and pirate-themed photo opportunities. There will also be concessions coupons and giveaway items.*
