Kings of New York

Consecutive road wins over the New York Jets and Giants are going to earn you some respect. Former NFL executive Mike Lombardi of The Athletic wrote about what he likes about the Bills through two weeks.

The Bills own New York State. They are the best New York has to offer, and they are good overall. Their defense is tough, well-coached and can win up front. If quarterback Josh Allen improves, they will surprise a few people in December. I like watching them play.

Winners from Week 2

The Bills came out as winners from Week 2 according to Rodger Sherman of The Ringer.

The Bills might be a dark horse playoff candidate. They won six games last year, and I could see them matching that number by November with the Bengals, Titans, Dolphins, and Eagles on the schedule. For now, they're emperors of the Empire State and kings of the Garden State too, I guess.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks

With Buffalo's upcoming schedule, the Bills could be in for a successful stretch of games according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

The Bills came out of an adverse situation unscathed and face a favorable stretch for the next month and a half. They draw the Bengals in Week 3, kicking off a string of five home games and a bye in the next seven weeks. "It's special because we have a young team and it's hard to win in this league," linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. "We're in a season where we can sustain some adversity."

Top grades from Week 2

After a comment from New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur came out against Josh Allen, the Bills had a little extra bulletin board material heading into Week 2. Allen proved his doubters wrong again and led the Bills to a win.

Grade: A-

Giants coach Pat Shumur is probably already regretting everything he said about Josh Allen in the lead up to this game. Although Shurmur isn't sure if Allen is an NFL-caliber starter, the Bills are definitely sure, especially after what they saw at MetLife Stadium. Allen led the Bills to touchdowns on three of their first four offensive drives against the Giants, and the impressive part is that all three of those drives went for more than 70 yards, including a seven-play, 98-yard drive in the second quarter. Allen finished with 253 passing yards and a touchdown, and although he cooled down in the second half, that didn't matter, because the Bills defense stepped up.

Two Bills appear on PFF's Team of the week

Two Bills players were named to Pro Football Focus’ team of the week for Week 2 of the NFL season.

S Jordan Poyer

Poyer was one of the best players on the field as the Bills went 2-0 at MetLife Stadium. He didn't allow a reception when he was the primary defender in coverage, and he came away with an interception to cap an impressive day.

P Corey Bojorquez

Corey Bojorquez punted seven times on Sunday, with two of those punts landing inside the opposing 20-yard line. He was booming kicks all game, averaging 4.87 seconds of hang-time, the most of any punter in the NFL this week.

New acquisitions earn praise

While they didn't make the team of the week, the Bills were led offensively by offseason additions John Brown, Cole Beasley and Frank Gore. It's "good work" by general manager Brandon Beane says Albert Breer of the MMQB.

The Bills' price-conscious shopping spree this offseason landed them their leading rusher (Frank Gore) and two leading receivers (John Brown, Cole Beasley) on Sunday. The total 2019 cap charge of those three: $16.4 million. That's good work by GM Brandon Beane.
