DE Shaq Lawson is staying in Buffalo and has re-signed on a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

During the 2022 season, Lawson played in 15 games for the Bills, starting in six of them. He forced one fumble, defended one pass, and recorded 3.5 sacks, 31 tackles, six tackles for loss, and nine quarterback hits.

Lawson was a key contributor to the Bills' defense after Von Miller's injury in Week 12's Thanksgiving game. During the final five games of the regular season, Lawson combined for 11 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.

2023 will mark Lawson's eight season in the NFL and sixth season with the Bills. The two seasons the defensive end wasn't in Buffalo, he was playing for AFC East rivals – the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. In 93 career NFL games, Lawson has tallied one interception, 14 defended passes, seven forced fumbles, 25 sacks, 194 tackles, and 70 QB hits.

Lawson, 28, was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Clemson University by the Bills.
