We're one week into the regular season and the settling of Buffalo's 53-man roster has yet to take place. On Monday, the Bills signed defensive end Nate Orchard to a one-year deal.
Orchard, 25, a former second-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015, was released by the club in final cuts at the beginning of September.
Orchard (6-3, 255) was trying to make a transition from a defensive end role in the Browns 4-3 defensive scheme last season to strong side linebacker this season.
He'll likely be asked to help bolster a Bills pass rush, which is the kind of role he's filled for most of his NFL career.
In his three seasons with the Browns, Orchard appeared in 34 games, making 11 starts and posted 65 tackles, five sacks, four pass breakups, a pair of forced fumbles and an interception.
To make room on the roster for Orchard, the Bills released Adolphus Washington.
