The Buffalo Bills officially completed their trade Wednesday for star wide receiver DJ Moore, giving their offense a top target for quarterback Josh Allen.
Moore brings a blend of downfield explosiveness and reliability to Buffalo. He has played in every regular season game the last five years and is also one of only five players with over 50 catches on throws of 20+ air yards during that span.
Here's what NFL analysts have said about Moore pairing up with Allen in Buffalo.
"I can get behind what this looks like now" — Robert Mays, The Athletic Football Show
The Athletic Football Show podcast praised Buffalo for being aggressive both upgrading at receiver and retaining a key member of the offensive line. Robert Mays believes the Bills did a good job of adding an explosive talent like DJ Moore whose skillset the team lacked last year keeping center Connor McGovern longterm.
The continuity means the Bills keep a lot of the successful elements of last year's offense and insert of valuable piece in Moore.
"This sort of move, when you just look at the roster and depth chart in totality, it's like 'alright, I can get behind what this looks like' now that you have all of the good elements for the most part coming back and you add if an expensive player in DJ Moore you absolutely did not have when you think about the skillset you're adding to the offense." — Mays
Yahoo! Sports NFL analyst and Reception Perception's Matt Harmon wrote an article about the impact Moore's addition could have in 2026. He believes Moore is both a style fit for the way Josh Allen plays and the way head coach Joe Brady runs his offense.
"Landing in Buffalo makes perfect sense for Moore, as he's familiar with new head coach Joe Brady's system, and they have a massive need at wideout. In anticipation that this pairing might occur, I asked Moore last month what he liked about playing in Brady's offense when they were together in Carolina from 2020 to 2021. He was complimentary of Brady's "nuanced" and "newer" routes and concepts." — Harmon
Harmon referenced an interview he did with Moore during Super Bowl week, and Moore praised Brady's offensive philosophy and route concepts.
Harmon also provides analysis for why Moore's production might have dipped in 2025. His charting of Moore's route success shows there's still plenty left in the tank for him to be a productive WR for Buffalo.
"Great familiarity" led Bills to pursue trade for Moore — Cameron Wolfe, NFL Network
As the offseason got underway, the Bills looked into several avenues in which they could improve their wide receiver situation going into 2026. Those options included A.J. Brown, Alec Pierce and others, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.
Buffalo ultimately arrived at the conclusion that Moore was the player that suited their needs best and had a built-in familiarity with Joe Brady.
"They feel like he is going to be that vertical weapon for them and also a guy that can be a reliable weapon on third down for Josh Allen." — Wolfe
"Stylistically fits with Josh Allen" — Nate Tice, Yahoo! Sports
Appearing on The Domonique Foxworth Show, Tice shared that he can see how Moore will be utilized in Buffalo, noting the receiver's penchant for yards after catch, screens and downfield ability.
"He gives that verticality that this offense needs a lot," Tice said.
Tice also believes that Moore can help solidify the roles of other Bills receivers and create a cohesive room.
"I get this so much for the Bills," he added.
"You're the guy who could be the No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen" — Rich Eisen
On The Rich Eisen Show, Eisen gave his immediate impression of the trade, believing that the match is a good pairing for both sides. Eisen notes how Moore comes to Buffalo with four seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards. While 28 years old, it's a higher pedigree than what Stefon Diggs had prior to his arrival in Western New York.
"Good on the Bills," Eisen said.
Moore's instant reaction
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer wrote about the behind-the-scenes events regarding Buffalo's acquisition of Moore, citing the team's excitement level to bring the trade to fruition.
According to Breer, Moore had a similar reaction and was "privately over the moon" to learn of the trade news.
