Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Greg Rousseau has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September after a dominant start to the 2026 season.
Through the first three games, Rousseau has established himself as one of the NFL's premier pass rushers, totaling 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 15 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 1 pass defensed.
Rousseau's six sacks lead the NFL and are the most by a Bills player through the first three games of a season in franchise history. His fast start has also placed him among some of the most accomplished pass rushers the league has ever seen.
With two sacks in each of Buffalo's first three games, Rousseau became just the third player in NFL history to record three consecutive games with at least two sacks to open a season, joining Mark Gastineau (1984) and Kevin Greene (1998).
The fourth-year linebacker also joined exclusive company in franchise history. Rousseau, Bruce Smith (1990) and Bryce Paup (1995) are the only Bills players ever to record a streak of three straight games with two or more sacks.
Rousseau's impact has extended beyond getting to the quarterback. His three forced fumbles and consistent disruption in the backfield have helped anchor a Bills defense that continues to improve under defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard.
As Buffalo sits undefeated through the first month of the season, Rousseau's historic production has been a major reason why, earning him the first AFC Defensive Player of the Month honor of his career.
