Where are they now? Bills Legends are coaching with these college, NFL and CFL teams

With week one of the college football season starting this week and the NFL season starting next week, here's a list of some former Bills players who are now coaching on college, NFL and CFL teams.

College coaches

Jim Leonhard, Wisconsin defensive coordinator

Leonhard has been a coach with the Wisconsin Badgers since 2016. Leonhard has two stints with the Bills from 2005-07 and in 2013. Leonhard is currently the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for Wisconsin.

Brian Brohm, Purdue co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach

A former Heisman trophy candidate, Brohm is currently coaching with the Purdue Boilermakers as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He's held that position since 2017.

Don Beebe, Aurora head coach

Don Beebe has been coaching in his home town of Aurora, Illinois since 2004. He began his coaching career in 2004 with Aurora Christian High School and stayed at the position until 2013. This season, he is beginning a new role as the head coach of Aurora University.

Odell Haggins, Florida State defensive line coach

Haggins has spent his entire coaching career with the Florida State Seminoles. He played as a defensive tackle with the Bills in 1991-92 and returned to his alma mater after his brief playing career. In 2017, he served as the Seminoles interim head coach and has since returned to his role as the defensive line coach.

Bryce Paup, Northern Iowa defensive line coach

Paup was a three-time Pro Bowler and NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the Bills in the 1995 season. Paup is currently the defensive line coach at Northern Iowa – a position he has held since 2013.

Ashton Youboty, Wisconsin senior defensive assistant

Youboty enters his third year on staff with the Wisconsin Badgers in 2019, serving as a senior defensive assistant. He was a third-round pick of the Bills in 2006 and played five seasons with the team. He formerly took part in a scouting fellowship with the Bills.

Jeff Burris, Louisiana Tech cornerbacks coach

Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Jeff Burris will be coaching the same position at Louisiana Tech this upcoming season. Burris had previous stints with the Miami Dolphins, Notre Dame, Northern Iowa before joining his current position in 2018. Last season, Louisiana Tech finished 8-5 and won the Hawaii Bowl.

Bradford Banta, Michigan analyst

Banta is beginning his first season as an analyst with the University of Michigan football team. In 2018, Banta was the special teams coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. Banta spent 11 years in the NFL as a tight end/long snapper and spending the final year of his career with the Bills in 2004. Since then he has worked with the Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and Saints in the NFL.

Deon Broomfield, Indiana State cornerbacks coach

Broomfield spent 2014-15 as a member of the Bills practice squad before turning his attention to coaching. He has worked at Carthage College, Western Illinois and enters his third season as a cornerbacks coach at Indiana State.

Thad Lewis, UCLA offensive analyst

Former Bills quarterback Thad Lewis joined the UCLA Bruins in 2018 as an offensive analyst. UCLA hopes to turn things around in 2019 after a 3-9 record in Chip Kelly's first year as head coach in 2018.

Shaud Williams, Oregon assistant strength and conditioning coach

Williams spent 2004-07 with the Buffalo Bills as a running back. The former Alabama product now works on the sidelines of one of the premier programs in college football. The Ducks will open the 2019 season against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night in Dallas on ABC.

J.D. Williams, Fresno State defensive backs coach

J.D. Williams enters his third season at Fresno State as the Bulldogs' defensive backs coach. It is his third stint coaching at his alma mater. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the team in 1997 and was the secondary coach in 2000-01.

Tashard Choice, Georgia Tech running backs coach

Tashard Choice is starting a new position in 2019. He moved on from North Texas and is now the running backs coach at Georgia Tech. Choice spent 2011-13 In the Bills running back room.

Derrick Burroughs, Lane College, head coach

Burroughs was drafted 14th overall by the Bills in 1985. He spent four years with the team. Now, Burroughs is the head coach of Lane College where he's been since 2015.

Mike Jasper, Bethal College head coach

Jasper is beginning his first head coaching job in 2019 with Bethel College in Tennessee. Jasper spent 2011 with Buffalo and his first coaching job was with local Buffalo high school Bishop Timon in 2014 as an offensive and defensive line coach.

Levi Brown, Valdosta State quarterbacks coach

Brown is the quarterbacks coach at Valdosta State University. He was formerly the offensive coordinator for the Faulkner University football team. He was drafted by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

JP Losman, Clemson analyst

The former first round pick of the Bills in 2004, Losman is entering his third season working with the coaching staff at Clemson, the defending national champions. He spoke about his experience with Dabo Swinney and the Tigers earlier this year on One Bills Live.

Professional football

Frank Reich, Indianapolis Colts head coach

Reich played nine seasons in Buffalo from 1985-1994 as he and Jim Kelly formed one of the longest tenured starting and backup quarterback tandems in the NFL. Reich began his coaching career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2008 and after stints with the Cardinals, Chargers and Eagles he was re-hird by the Colts to be their head coach. Reich is entering his second season in the role.

Alex Van Pelt, Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach

Van Pelt both played and coached with the Bills. He is entering his second year as quarterbacks coach of the Cincinnati Bengals but previously was in the same position with the Bills in 2008 and 2009. Van Pelt played with the Bills from 1994-2003 and coached from 2006-09.

Mike Devlin, Houston Texans offensive line coach

Mike Devlin is currently the offensive line coach of the Houston Texans, a role he has served since 2015. He has previously worked as both the New York Jets tight end and offensive line coach from 2006-2014. Devlin played for the Bills from 1993-95.

Tom Myslinski, Jacksonville Jaguars strength and conditioning coach

Myslinski is entering his seventh season with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being names strength and conditioning coordinator in 2012. Mylinski was a guard on the Bills during the 1993 season and a native of Rome, NY.

Keith Willis, Tennessee assistant defensive line coach

Willis is with the Tennessee Titans as the assistant defensive line coach. He has held that role since 2016. It is his first NFL job after coaching at the college level and in the Canadian Football League since 1995. Willis spent the 1992 season with the Bills.

Corey Mace, Calgary Stampeders (CFL) defensive line coach

Mace is the defensive line coach of the CFL's Calgary Stampeders. Mace was a second-round pick of the Bills in 2007 and spent 2010-15 with the Stampeders. He has been the defensive line coach since 2016.
