Matt Mansour

Matt Mansour

Matt Mansour displayed an instinctive gift for painting at a very young age. He earned early recognition as an exhibiting artist and received his first solo exhibition at the Villa Maria College Art Gallery at age nineteen. A decade later, Matt's art practice continues to thrive at People Inc.'s ArtsWork Program, under the guidance of Teaching Artist Todd Lesmeister. Matt's current body of work features expressively painted stick figures that layer and repeat, populating his paintings with a variety of contrasting colors. Matt and his family are avid Bills fans and lifelong residents of Western New York.

Bills Fans/Bills Nation/Bills MaïŹa, 2026

Acrylic on wooden panel

This painting features layers of expressively painted stick ïŹgures in multiple Bills team colors. The painting process is to apply each color layer separately and allow the paint to dry before applying the next. The artist methodically distributes ïŹgures in a rhythmic pattern across the entire painting surface.

Upon close inspection, the ïŹgures contain details unique to the artist himself, for example, brushstrokes to indicate eyeglasses. Together, these minimal, universal symbols suggest crowds or humanity, and from a distance appear as one rich tapestry of pattern and color.
