A couple of nagging hamstring injuries at tight end have forced the Bills to bring in some help.

The team announced the signing of tight end Kyle Carter on Monday. The 6-4, 245-pound Penn State product will provide relief to a tight end group that has seen rookie Dawson Knox injure his hamstring on Saturday. Head coach Sean McDermott announced on Sunday that second-year tight end Jason Croom will also miss time with a hamstring injury. Free agent addition Tyler Kroft remains out with a foot injury suffered in the spring.

Carter has spent time on practice squads in Minnesota, the Giants, Seattle, and last year with the Bills. He spent the last three weeks of the 2018 on Buffalo's practice squad before being released at the end of the year. He originally joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Minnesota in 2016. He played three games with the Vikings in 2017.

In college, Carter was named to the 2012 All-Big 10 team after his first year at Penn State and he finished his college career with 84 receptions and four touchdowns.

To make room for Carter, the Bills released linebacker Juwan Foggie.
