1. Numbers you need to know about the Bills 53-man roster

The Bills cut down their roster to 53 players over the weekend. Buffalo brought back 35 players that were on the team in 2019 and added 18 new players to the roster.

Of the 35 players returning to the roster, 18 return to the offense, 15 return to the defense, and two specialists return. Seven of those returning offensive players are offensive lineman. With guard John Feliciano on injured reserve to start the season, only four of the five returning linemen will be on the active roster in week one.

Of the 18 new players on the team, eight are on offense, nine are on defense, and one is a specialist. Six of the seven of the Bills draft picks made the team, with seventh-rounder Dane Jackson being placed on the practice squad. Rookie receiver Isaiah Hodgins will start out his season on injured reserve. TE Reggie Gilliam was the only one of the Bills UDFA to make the team. Gilliam recently switched positions moving from fullback to tight end.

Returning offensive players: QB Matt Barkley, WR Cole Beasley, WR John Brown, QB Josh Allen, WR/KR Andre Roberts, WR Isaiah McKenzie, RB T.J. 2. Cynthia Frelund makes this win-loss prediction for the Bills in 2020

NFL Network analytics expert Cynthia Frelund projected the win total for the Bills this season. She has Buffalo winning 9.4 games this season. While that is down slightly from the ten wins the team won last season, the Bills strength of schedule goes up from a 0.480 opponent win percentage to 0.525.

Buffalo Bills: 9.4 wins

In the last 12 games of the 2019 season quarterback, Josh Allen threw 13 touchdowns, to only two interceptions from inside the tackle box. Now the Bills offense adds receiver Stefon Diggs, who caught a league-leading 57.7% of deep targets as a Viking last season. Diggs, who's my WR25 in preseason fantasy rankings and John Brown my WR47, will be a problem for opposing defenses. Speaking of the defense, the Bills had the lowest passer rating allowed on deep attempts last season. This season this side of the ball drives Buffalo's postseason odds even higher.

3. Practice squads expanded for 2020

Another change that the NFL made this season because of COVID-19 was the size of the practice squad. Since 2014, the number of practice squad players on a team was at 10, but that changed to 12 this season because of the new CBA. Now because of COVID-19, the practice squad will now be increased to 16 players, but only for the 2020 season.

Buffalo Bills Practice Squad: OT Trey Adams, TE Nate Becker, OL Evan Boehm, DE Bryan Cox Jr, TE Jason Croom, CB Dane Jackson, CB Cam Lewis, DE Mike Love, OT Victor Salako, LB Andre Smith, S Josh Thomas, RB Christian Wade*, OT Brandon Walton, QB Davis Webb, RB Antonio Williams, WR Duke Williams, DT Justin Zimmer

*RB Christian Wade is a part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program and is a roster exemption. This is the second year he has been on the Bills practice squad and he cannot be elevated to the active roster at any point in the season.
